it's interesting to think about Dany's cultural identity. her ethnicity is valyrian; her cultural heritage is Westerosi (kinda - it's debated how much the Targaryens fully assimilated into Westerosi culture) but her cultural upbringing is a mismatch of cultures of Essos. She speaks Valyrian with a Tyroshi accent for example. Then of course she adapted to the Dothraki and Meereenese cultures somewhat. She's a chameleon!

Rhaenyra, Laena and Daena were described as beautiful. Rhaenyra description said that she has the beauty of dragon's blood that quite rare. Means that she supposed to be the most beautiful Targaryen they've ever seen. Though the book styled differently, Daenerys description in the asoiaf was quite ambiguous. It says, she's beautiful bcs they haven't seen any Targaryen woman for quite sometimes. While the description for Cersei and Sansa was quite clear. Straight up "beautiful". So I don't know what it meant for Daenerys but judging how men easily fell for her, I believe she's also beautiful

The author originally planned to skip forward five years between books once, letting the young characters age up. He eventually found it didn’t work narratively as too much action was ongoing to explain little happening for five years. The result is some characters being way too young for their roles

Daenerys Targaryen in the books is described as an exquisitely beautiful child who gets sold off by her abusive brother in exchange of an army and who everyone inappropriately lust over.

I'm not a fan of what they did to her character in the show, but I'm glad they aged her up. It's honestly quite distributing to read about a 13-year-old girl getting her virginity sold off to a 30-year-old war lord while having ugly old farts such as Illyrio and Jorah wanting to bed her including her own werido brother.
