Was Arya Beautiful In The Books?

There are exactly THREE people who call Arya ugly in the entire story:

1) Her older sister who doesn't get along with her
2) The best friend of her older sister
3) Arya herself. A 9 years old girls who's been called ugly all her life by these two.

I think the rumors of Arya's ugliness are greatly exaggerated.

I remember that when Ned said she looked like Lyanna, Arya said "but she was beautiful" and Ned said "yes, she was"
That was when I realized that Arya was made to believe she was ugly.
And when Robert met her, he kept staring at her and this made Ned uncomfortable.
Also also, Gendry call her pretty when he sees her wearing a dress (and she kicks him in the little Gendry)

Maybe thats the reason Robert Baratheon came to winterfell he looks at arya and says what a pretty one and ask for her name (making sansa look jealous) cause she looks like lyanna when she was younger

Having been in that situation and shamed even by my own mother for looking like a boy because I was slender and very athletic and rather androgynous looking before the hormones fully kicked in, this is something that made me very empathetic towards Arya, and I love how Ned would see his beloved older sister Lyanna in her, both in looks and personality - Lyanna being considered a beautiful young woman as well, always associated with the winter roses she loved. It's a small detail in the pit of darkness that is her current storyline, but I do hope Arya starts realising that she's just fine as she is.
