How do I get a Band 9 in IELTS Speaking?

In the Speaking test, you will have a discussion with an examiner. It will be interactive and as close to a real-life situation as a test can get.

The Speaking test is 11-14 minutes long and is in three parts.

Part 1 - You will answer questions about yourself and your family.

Part 2 - You will speak about a topic.

Part 3 - You will have a longer discussion about the topic introduced in Part 2.

The Speaking test is the same for both IELTS Academic and IELTS General Training tests.

I got a 9 in the speaking and I was honestly so shocked lol I really was just being myself and trying not to stutter or repeat myself. They grade your ability to communicate as opposed to a “right” or “wrong” answer. Be yourself and let the conversation flow!

One thing I really notice about this tips of you is that the don'ts do not necessarily come from the lacking of English skills but the habits after being through an education system that focus on memorization and rigid score system: i.e system that rely on points and marks for each ideas. It really make you have the habits of listing and sticking to their planned points. Apart from that, excellent video, as usual!

I have learned Ielts for over 5 months and been to many classes.
I have seen one of my local teachers saying that speaking until the examiner stops you is a good strategy because it shows you have many ideas.
