Dude, I just want to thank you for all the free advice that you throw out there. I bet, I'm not the only one who appreciates that. I also love the manner in which you present your topics: calm, straight to the point, no unneccesary bullshit.
Not too far in the future, I'm definitely going to buy one of your training programs.

Cheers, mate!

Keep in mind that this is a guy who is 6 feet tall, very muscular and weighs 209lbs. Many smaller men would do well to eat around 2, 000 daily calories.

I sometimes have nightmares of repeating high school. Mike has nightmares of going back to 85kg/2000 kcal

Since the last video you posted on this topic I've gained about 4 kgs, maybe not pure muscle but close to it and I feel A LOT better in all aspects of my life. Energy, cognition, strength and sleep, even my skin looks better, I must have been starving myself.

I’ve been on 2000 calories a day for the past 4 months. I am sedentary and am a 49 year old male. I started at 240lbs and am now 190lbs at 6’3” it hasn’t been easy but I have so many injuries from sports as a kid that this was the only way I could do it.

The latest research on caloric deficit shows that the most lean body mass you'd expect to lose on a very-low-calorie diet (around 400-600kcal per day) would be 25%, which equates to about 75% body fat lost. Not too bad actually. People fear losing muscle mass far too much.

Wow — perfect timing! I’m in week two of the Transformation program and I’m working hard to get enough calories. Good clear explanation— really looking forward to second installment!!

Dieted for too much time, trained 2-3 times a week and was 'rewarded' with a slow metabolism - 2050 kcals had been my maintainance intake for quite a while. At 1, 79m and 88kg bodyweight, I've been an experienced lifter with a 155kg bench and a 200kg squat, eating less than some female co-workers. Escaped this by exercising more, 4-5 times a week (incl. Cardio), now I'm back at 2500+ kcal maintainance at a slightly lower bodyweight and increased strength. Feels great to be able to eat until I actually feel full again😅

Everything that happened to you is happening to me right as I type. Not only do I feel a bit weaker when I cut my calories, I get these massive hunger pains in the morning, during training, and even during the middle of the night. It sucks so much shit when trying to lower my body fat percentage after a four month bulking session. I seriously don't know how people are able to put on muscle and lose fat at the same time without feeling miserable and depleted.

I am not all that lean but you know normal weight and I dropped to an average of 2500 calories a day and 20-30 minutes of resistance training 6x a week. I was dropping over 3lbs a day. I was previously maintaining weight at about 3500 when I was a little overweight. I was amazed how little I needed to do to get the results.

In the words of Mike Thurston, "it depends." if your BMR is 1800 calories and you eat 2000 and lay in bed all day then you are at a calorie surplus of 200 but if your BMR is say 1500 and you run a half marathon then you're most likely at a significant deficit and going to lose muscle tissue. Eating a set caloric intake is like driving your car with your foot on the gas pedal at 1 set position. not stopping, slowing down, or accelerating you just go one speed always and hope there's no stop signs or freeways in front you. To avoid crashing your car or your nutrition plan you have to vary your intake based upon your goals.
