You’re dam right Kirk, been using only SBR for about 4 months now, miles better than PVA

I swear SBR is a gift from heaven. I use it all the time on so many different applications.

You know what I love? Plasterers who are convinced that a "magic mix" of SBR and PVA 50/50 is the way to go. I've never heard such shit in all my life 🤦😂

Moved over to sbr about 15 to 20 years ago . Just got fed up with mixed results from kids glue that sticks lollipops together . We had always used sbr in damp environments and S&C work just moved it over to general plastering we wasn't sure at that time but the results proved it far more reliable . Totally agree with this top advice 👍🏻

I'm going to start using SBR in the future. Thanks for your tips

If you add it to concrete it increases the compressive strength. Used in many products both as a primer and within the product itself.
Decorative concrete resurfacing. Roof paints and membranes, tiling adhesives, elastomeric membranes, strutural grouts, tile grouting etc. It can be added to any sand/cement based products. Probably not great where the substrate needs to breath such as lime based mortars/plaster etc?

I always thought once sbr has dried then it became more like a plastic so skim will fail, is that not right?
aaronsmith
I'm a tiler and use it exclusively its just a better product in every circumstance

I like 70% sbr and 30% pva
Just makes life a little easier applying it, and still drys 👌👌👌

Once it is dry does it stay dry? I.E Can a coat an external wall and it'll stay dry?
gmckayak
Do u have to add water to it as ive some and its liquid form already
markjackson

Do you 1 coat or 2 coat when you use SBR and does it need watering down or not..?
shanecharles
Well good damn it I wish I knew this sooner! Thanks boss.

And pva is made from a protein, mold lives on protein 💪, thanks my man great channel 👍
maxfrere
Iv just moved from pva to sbr over watching your videos mate and it's a game changer
emmettloughran
SBR was a game changer for me even as a DIYer
chrisrawles
Does it need watering down or just neet for overskim and do you still 2 coat SBR or just the one coat for overskim
shanecharles
I always used pva when plastering . 20% pva 80% water never had a problem and anything that’s high suction I just apply a bit more to that area .I only use SBR in render. I’m not saying it’s better or worse just how I was taught to do it .
