These days, just about everyone is shopping for a three-row SUV of some kind. Lexus took note and finally has a proper entrant in the segment thanks to the new TX. But the TX faces stiff competition, and not all of its competitors come from other luxury brands — like the fantastic Hyundai Palisade, which has always punched above its price point. Is the TX 350 nice enough to justify its $10,000 price premium over the fully loaded Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy? In this video, Edmunds’ Clint Simone puts the two to the test to find out.

Do you think the Palisade has enough going for it to be considered a luxury SUV? Let us know in the comments!

Definitely give me the Palisade (non Night Edition though) - convinced my best friend to buy a Palisade Limited over a Telluride, Pilot, and Highlander (she hated the Highlander) and she texts me every day talking about how she can't believe she bought such a beautiful and practical SUV

I had a palisade as a rental, kept calling home telling everyone who would listen how shocked I was in a Hyundai product
I have been pushing my better half to trade the Durango for one as the mileage begins to pour on.

After comparing Lexus Tx, Jeep Grand Cherokee Summit ($75k), Kia Telluride, and the new Lincoln Nautilus ( I liked it, wife didn’t) we chose the Palisade Calligraphy. The ride, the quietness Are superb . The features blows the competition away and u love the look. Plus I kept up to $20k in my pocket.

We just bought a palisade and are shocked by the features and luxury feel. We wanted the most second leg row leg room possible and now that we have it I’m not sure we’ll ever not have a Hyundai. They are soooo nice!!! I feel like we’ve been missing out on a big piece of affordable luxury because we’ve always gone with Toyota Subaru and Honda.

I love my Palisade, it’s awesome, 19, 000 miles and no issues at all 💪

The Toyota brand (and Honda for that matter) has taken advantage of their reliability and continually withhold amenities from the consumer.

Hyundai doesn't provide extra packages because they believe in getting as much bang for your buck. They provide a fantastic warranty to combat the japanese-brand homer picks.

My dad loves his '23 Palisade XRT. Very quiet and comfortable. Multiple round trips to NYC and Virginia and it's no problem.

I looked at both also and ended up buying a 2024 Palisade Caligraphy. It was 20k less and had more features, a nicer interior, a more refined power train and a better warranty. Also, the Lexus badge doesn't mean anything too me. So far the Palisade has been headache free.

As someone who bought a '23 Palisade Calligraphy, even though I knew the TX would be out around 8 months later and thought I might prefer the TX... I knew I was making a bit of a gamble. When the TX actually came out, I was pleasantly surprised that I had no regrets getting the Palisade after all. The outside of the TX looks bland, and the inside is easily mistaken for a Grand Highlander. And the TX is really even more than a $10k price premium if you equip the two cars similarly. Some of the driver safety aids on the TX even require an ongoing subscription to keep functional... whereas they're free for life on the Palisade (as they should be).
Hearing this review say the Palisade actually drives and rides better is just the icing on the cake!
The only reason I might prefer the TX is because it'd be nice to have a hybrid, or even a PHEV. But getting a PHEV in the TX skyrockets the price to around $80k... and that buys a whole lot of gas! Plus the all new Palisade (with hybrid powertrain) is apparently only a year away from coming out.

My son has a Carolla (cheaper Lexus); I have a Genesis G90 and my wife has a GV70.

The pre-facelift Palisade I owned for 2 years gave zero problems. It was comfy and well appointed. My only gripes were the old school no turbo engine and the lack of trunk space with the 3rd row up.

Bought a 2022 Palisade Limited AWD 2yrs2mo ago, and it's been great.

The only issue was a bad 12v battery which the dealer replaced within a single day, but beyond that nothing else has gone wrong.

I'd have the Palisade Calligraphy. It seems they borrowed more from the Genesis line for this vehicle. I liked it, so we'll, that I traded my Cadillac XT5 Premium Luxury for a Calligraphy in Hyper White and at 54k, couldn't be happier

I have that Palisade 2023 and I love it!! ❤️ One new feature that I've never had was massage seats, on long drives this is a must and your passenger will enjoy too.. Another cool feature that I've now used to is the brake stay, once I'm at a full stop I can let off the brake petal and it won't go till I hit the gas . This is nice in stop n go traffic in Vegas and cali. The in dash car charger has been really nice I can charge just about anything on it .. phone, watch, headphones and it's always there never lost and no cords. This Suv has excellent control and braking with lots of power when on the turbo mode.. I can change it so I can be speedy or save fuel on fuel saving mode. My only complaint on this suv passed year is that I can't fit a cooler in the back when 7 people are in it.

I'm old enough to remember a Hyundai Veracruz beating a Lexus RX 350 in a similar type comparison on edmunds insideline in 2007. Those Veracruz's are now in the junk yard while the RX 350 still sells for $10k- $15k with a ton of miles. This will be a similar story.

As someone who used to work at Hyundai and now work at Lexus I can vouch that when it comes for the pic the palisade is better. Been driving the TX for a bit and feeling kind of disappointed

This one's a no-brainer. The TX feels like Lexus rushed it out just to get out their 3-row. The interior is just not special while the exterior didn't go far at all distinguishing it from the GHL. It just has a cheapness look to it. On the other hand, the Palisade since it came out looks more expensive than it actually is. None of the major Hyundai recalls have affected the Palisade and the engine has been problem free though it could use better fuel efficiency. If you're getting the Palisade, especially in Calligraphy, go for the beige interior with the navy blue trim. It looks and feels way more expensive than the 53K suggested price and wouldn't look out of place among vehicles costing 10 to 20K more. No surprise they're (and Telluride) still selling strong going to 6 years, and with an all-new Palisade coming likely early 2025, you can probably get some good deals on the outgoing model.

I’ve never been a Lexus TX fan. I just feel Lexus phoned it in to get a luxury 3 row SUV out there and they figured the grand highlander is a good base to build off of. The Lexus TX just doesn’t feel special or nice inside at all, it looks very generic on the outside, and has no differentiation from the grand highlander sibling. I’ll take palisade over either any day of the week unless reliability is your end-all, be-all. Even then, the grand highlander has had transmission issues reported by owners, and that turbo 4 might not hold up long term compared to the Hyundai V6 engines.

I’ve recently picked up the Palisade Calligraphy and I’m really happy with the car. I was considering this exact match up, the Lexus TX and the Palisade. It was a no brainer once I’ve tested both cars. It was 13k difference (with 7% off MRSP) and honestly, as review mentions you’d expect a lot more from the Lexus.
