The way that christopher’s parents immediately were like ‘it’s not his fault but she should be sent away, why should he ruin his life because she got pregnant’ is painfully realistic, the double standards for men and women when it comes to pregnancy and having unexpected kids is insane especially in the 80s when this would be happening

What I have to appreciate Emily for is that as much as she was criticizing her daughter face to face she never stabbed her into the back and let other people talk badly about her. She always defended her and tried to protect her as best as she could.

That’s the one thing that a lot of Lorelai haters seem to ignore - that there was a whole year between Lorelai giving birth to Rory and choosing to move to Stars Hollow. We have no idea how things were in that year that made Lorelai choose to move out. Were her parents overriding her choices in how to raise Rory? How much was Christopher helping? Where was Christopher? We have no idea of any of these things and yet people act as judge and jury that she just ran away for no reason immediately after giving birth 🙄

What will forever hit me hard is that for Rory it went

Christopher: "She's pretty..."
Lorelai: "She's perfect."

But for GG it was all

Christopher: "She's Perfect."
Lorelai: "No, Rory was perfect."

Ig some can see it as mean from Lorelai but it hits hard how at 16 she had this accident and as soon as she saw Rory she fell in love and knew she'd be there for her, Chris didn't get that until he had GG and Lorelai still felt it after all these years when Rory was older (and she definitely still remembered what Christopher said about Rory all those years ago.

Look Emily was not a great mom. But in that moment she definitely stuck up for lorelai. Also getting married because there's a baby involved is the world's worst idea

For people wondering/asking why Lorelai left and why he didn't stay with her parents, remember the season when Rory was living in the pool house and then after Emily thought Logan and Rory were getting too close to sex, moved Rory into the main house, and became bit controlling? That's why Lorelai left. I always thought that storyline did an excellent job of answering that very question. It was pretty clear to me why Lorelai felt she had to get away. Whether or not she should have left or whether or not it was best decision is another story, but I completely understood her motivation and why she made the choice she made.

The episode called Emily in Wonderland and this one called Dear Emily and Richard always get to me. Same with Lorelai’s graduation.

All I can look at is young lorelai's brown eyes, and how inaccurate it is b/c Lorelai's eyes are SO BLUE. At least give the actress blue contacts...

Thanks for uploading. It’s hard to believe that Rory would be forty this year! 😊

Young Lorelai was so charming! I feel it’s much more natural and likable than the way she acts as she’s older. Kind of broke my heart the way she just grabbed Rory and left. You could tell her parents loved having her around (specially her mom), and they were getting used to having baby Rory around too and loving that. It could’ve been an opportunity to grow closer. Sad that never happened

I just realized in the clip on the stairs she said “what about Europe and sleeping on a bench in Paris” and later in the show Christopher remembers shortly before getting married

A lot of parents would have thrown their child out but hers did not and supported her and the baby. I know the were not the best example of parents but they sure as hell are not the worst.

This episode was very necessary to show us how exactly Lorelai felt that made her run away, because before it always seemed like everyone in her life wanted to help but she just kept pushing them away for no reason and even though later on i feel like shes at fault for pushing away people who live her, this definitely shows how justified it was for her to get away
