Poor guy, one minute he's enjoying a nice swim, happy with life, doing a job that he loves, about to get married, and within seconds he's gone . Just goes to show how fragile life is, we aren't guaranteed even the next second. I feel bad for Simon Nellist and the people who loved him.

Swimming in a clean swimming pool is enough for me.

If those guys weren’t there recording they would’ve never known where the guy went.

This might be the first recording of a shark actually eating a human that resulted in a death. Scary enough to be eaten by a shark. But to have it recorded takes it up a level of horrifying.

This clip, and the one of the 23 year old in Egypt who’s eaten on video are two of the harder shark attack videos anyone could ever watch.. RIP to both people 😞

Where are the people who argue " they only bite to taste test and realize they don't like the taste of people "
.

"Sharks don't see people as prey" yeah you keep thinking that. Total bs

They say sharks don't like the taste of humans, but we can clearly see the shark came back for seconds and possibly thirds.

I don’t understand how you could possibly think it would be safe to swim in an area like that. Especially if people are fishing and releasing the smell of bait in the water.

That's so horrible. I was attacked on my right arm by a 12-ft tiger back in 1999.
My condolences to Simon's family

While some may feel this video is insensitive, (mainly bc of Simon's family), I hope it remains available for educational purposes. This video further demonstrates that "mistaken identity" is a myth. Sharks are opportunists, they will take what they get. Not going to turn their nose up on a human. Prayers to Simon's family.🙏 Sounds like he was a wonderful person & also educated about sharks. SHARKS do not deserve a bad name, they are predators that are vital for the ecosystem. We all should just think twice before entering their home.

you have to imagine this happens sometimes and no one sees and they are considered missing persons.

The fierce reality of nature and predators like the Great White shark are reasons why you will never find me tempting fate like this man did. You might dive in these waters 100 times and make it home safely. But all it takes is that one time...

So much for the mistaken for a seal argument. These shark-hugging "scientists" telling people what an apex predator can and cant, should and shouldn't do, like theyre supposed to discriminate humans because we have feelings and families to go home to. They would throw the "more people are killed in car accidents" argument like there are same numbers of cars on the road as people in shark frequented waters. 🤦🏼‍♂️

Equally disturbing is the birds waiting for scraps 🤦🏻‍♂️🙏🙏

I don't see how people go that deep in water even if you know how to swim not being able to see under or around you is nerve racking

This is why I stopped body boarding and diving, its just too much of a risk, I remember this one dive I went with friends, the water was very green, merky and had almost 0 visibility, I ended up splitting from the group on accident, I ended up coming across a turtle hiding in a coral cave, I didn't think much of it until I realized later that turtle was hiding from a shark. There was a 12 foot Tiger shark that was reported roaming the area. Still haunts me that I could've been its meal that day.
