Shark: "oops, pardon me."
Diver: "dies internally"

The fact that they can get that close without detection and disappear just as fast due to their coloration. Is both amazing and terrifying lol

He didn’t escape an attack because there was no attack

Diver was Mr.Ron Elliot, and he's not an abalone diver, he's retired sea urchin diver and filmmaker. This was recorded in the Farallon's islands, California. Just watch his documentary "Near Miss" about this encounter.

I can tell you this, if that happened to me, I would be living in the midwest by the end of the week.

Looks like the shark was just as surprised to see him.
Went home and told his buddies how amazing humans blend in where you’d never expect them

Shark was checking him out. Not with the intention to attack. If it wanted him as a snack it would've tackled him full speed, most likely with its mouth open and body sideways to fit him in its mouth. This one bumped him with it's nose out of curiosity, there are censors on its nose called receptors/ ampullae of lorenzini that detect motion, electric and magnetic fields, forgot which one of these it was, I might be wrong lol. With the divers movements the shark was probably scouting the area to see if it was a prey item. But what the Great White found was a diver bumping its very sensitive nose, also causing it to jerk its head upward to avoid another nose tap. Sorry I'm a Shark Nerd.

SHARK: "I take a quiet and relaxing walk and... oh sorry forgive me I didn't see you in the murky water!"

HUMAN: oh my god terrible shark attack! Poor diver miraculously survived this scary killer monster!!!

A friend told me a story about a night dive he took . He said his light went out, and it got quiet. Then all of a sudden he said he felt a very strong current right next to him go racing by, and it must have been something very big ! Scary !!

It never gets old watching this. He’s lucky this shark had a sense of humor.
