Understanding the doctrine of Predestination and Election is essential to the presentation of the Gospel. In this sermon, Dr. Voddie Baucham presents, defends, and applies this biblical doctrine. In this systematic exposition concerning the election and predestination of Jacob, Dr. Baucham also walks us through the importance of confessions and creeds to define what we mean when we refer to belief in Jesus and the Bible.

Election and Predestination l Voddie Baucham

Genesis 25:19-27:

The Birth of Esau and Jacob
19 These are the generations of Isaac, Abraham’s son: Abraham fathered Isaac, 20 and Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah, the daughter of Bethuel the Aramean of Paddan-aram, the sister of Laban the Aramean, to be his wife. 21 And Isaac prayed to the LORD for his wife, because she was barren. And the LORD granted his prayer, and Rebekah his wife conceived. 22 The children struggled together within her, and she said, “If it is thus, why is this happening to me?” So she went to inquire of the LORD. 23 And the LORD said to her,

“Two nations are in your womb,
and two peoples from within you shall be divided;
the one shall be stronger than the other,
the older shall serve the younger.”

24 When her days to give birth were completed, behold, there were twins in her womb. 25 The first came out red, all his body like a hairy cloak, so they called his name Esau. 26 Afterward his brother came out with his hand holding Esau’s heel, so his name was called Jacob. Isaac was sixty years old when she bore them.
27 When the boys grew up, Esau was a skillful hunter, a man of the field, while Jacob was a quiet man, dwelling in tents. 28 Isaac loved Esau because he ate off his game, but Rebekah loved Jacob.

This message was só much needed. Truly, the Lord send me this to listen on my way to work. Especially with my children. You gave me hope. Your words comforted me. I can only thank the Lord humbly for allowing me to hear these words. ❤❤

I love this video. I quoted it to my child. Voddie is amazing at teaching the Bible's message. He's straight up. No sugar coating the truth.
Thank you our heavenly Father for everything that you are. For being so beautiful beyond words.

I absolutely LOVE hearing the unfiltered truth of the gospel of Jesus Christ. However, the constant background music is annoying at best and distracting at worst.

I am so glad that I've listened to this absolute truth of this message if the gospel. I've listen to others of Voddie's G-2 team of giid teachers, as I come to call them, the apostles of today. I know, there are no more apostles that exist. But they all teach the same. I thank God for Voddie Baucham message on the elect and predestination. I understand it because I heard messages on it before, and I truely believe it, because I have followed it throughout the word of God in my Bible. I pray that we all grasp and understand this true subject, as we comtinue to study. Amen. ❤

Wow, okay, I think I finally get it! And yes, I repent that my doubting implied that God would play cruel jokes on His creation. I’m sorry!! I will just be grateful and praise God that I must be elect or I wouldn’t care if God chose me or not. I am grateful for mercy because I sure don’t want the justice I so earned.

Honestly, thank you guys for sharing these sermons. I love this man, Paul Washer and Gino Jennings (of course besides my Pastor 😌)
Dr Voddie is such a teacher and a great blessing to not only me but many others. I wish I'd get to sit in one of his classes as through him, God works
That confession though 😂🔥... confused me even more.

Wow Wow Wow you have so clearly confirmed all that the Holy Spirit given me the understanding of Election the Holy Spirit revealed what God's word is saying God gets all the Glory and rightly so. We must be careful not to rob God how is it possible to Steal from God by saying it my cleverness that I was able to get the message of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection. To God be all the Glory. Amen. I'm a person all sort's of learning difficulties. So predestination is so amazing. That God should save any of us.

It’s good the hear sound theology being preached in this day and age.

In love, as much as I love Voodie, he has made a serious error in his teaching. He has assumed something. He has added and input his assumption into the text. The text teaches that God chose Jacob over Esau in order to keep the promise God gave to Abraham. Voodie said this and that part is absolutely true. But Voodie assumed the promise is salvation. He input that idea of salvation being the promise into the text since the text never said salvation. Then Voodie uses his assumption seem to be more reasonable by presenting poor examples of other interpretations to make his look better.
Voodie is pushing the Calvinistic doctrine by adding salvation into the passage when it does not say the election was for salvation.
Instead, the passage actually teaches us that the election was for the promise God gave to Abraham. And that promise was that God was going to produce a messiah that will come out of Abraham’s seed. God promised Abraham that all peoples will be blessed through him. Gen 12:3

That is what the promise was. Jesus would come out of the line of Abraham, then Isaac, then Jacob, and so on. And God elected exactly who specifically would carry that line down to Jesus. That is why God elected people.
Somehow, Calvinists changed election to mean God chose people to salvation, and that idea is not found in these verses.

Thank you for these sermons....your preaching provides much clarity! I would like to ask, however, that you remove the background music. It makes it extremely difficult to concentrate with the music playing, and it detracts from, and cheapens the significance of the message. Thank you for the consideration!

God must be really sad when he looks down on his creation even being aware that he will soon restore it his original word! THANK YOU FATHER!

Also, how do you know you're bearing fruit? Is it the fruits of the Holy Spirit, is that it? Or is it wealth (of course not purely material) in the way Jesus promised that whoever gives everything up and follows Him, they shall receive a hundredfold??

I am totally confused! You should write a book on it and in great detail break it down so It can be understood better. Much appreciated!

The sermon is good but the music is so distracting it’s hard to focus on what is being said
