Great video, I’m about 4 months into ownership of a M2 and it’s a unreal car, proper dream! But I agree with what you mentioned in this video the sensors peck, seats are comfy but nothing special, and brakes are ok! Nothing’s perfect and none of these matter to me as it doesn’t effect the way it makes me feel when i drive it! Never wanna get out!!

TGE has left some love mayonnaise on your steering wheel.

There should be a parking assist button to turn it on and off... no? :/

"I love how it goes a little bit louder for a few seconds when it starts"

That's a cold start .... the engine is revving a little bit higher to warm it up.

I've driven my M2 on Sebring twice now. Never, not once, did I have a problem with the brakes. In fact, they are the best brakes I've ever experienced. Both Sebring weekends were with the Porsche Club's Driver Education program. My only pet peeve with the M2 is lack of instrumentation. Why oh why does BMW not have an oil temp gauge?

Hey Archie ... fellow M2 owner here.  I hear you 100% on the reversing noise, it drives me absolutely crazy! I hate it.  Also, I'm not entirely sure but I think when it's in Sport+ the sound stops coming through the speakers!? ... but as I say, I'm not entirely sure on that one yet.

Finally, there is something even more annoying than the 5 things you mentioned and it probably hasn't happened to you yet ... but its worth knowing beforehand because if you're anything like me, I thought the entire diff was going to fall out or a rear wheel was going to come off.  This has happened about 10 times to me and I've had the car since November 2016.  All of a sudden you'll be pulling away and you'll hear a god awful screeching noice that sounds like what I imagine a tin can getting stuck up in between your wheel or brake disc sounds like... it's so loud and it sounds horrifying and it gets louder with speed.  The first time it happened I took the car home at about 20 mph and called BMW the next day, they sent a guy out within 3 hours and he listened to it and chuckled! ... he said yeah, this happens on M2's and M4's ... its when a tiny stone gets stuck in the cheap aluminium protector behind the brake disc and spins around ... it sounds terrible but its only a small stone.  The guy took my wheel off, took the disc off and then the protector ... as he tilted it a tiny stone feel out.  That was it.  It's happened loads more since but now I know what it is I just get the rear wheels spinning really fast which seems to eject it! :-) ... hope you get to read this before it happens to you.

Regards ... M

Ok Archie
Couple of things about your M2 regarding your reverse sensor staying on, literally press the button by your gear lever which is lite up & will turn it off.
Also in relation to the Park situation wether your in Neutral or drive if you press the Stop/Start button once to turn engine off with handbrake on then press it for 2nd time it will automatically go into Park.
It is a bit strange but I’ve had 10 BMW’S and it’s like all cars they have there thing but you get used to it lol.

It's a safety feature on most cars that the PDC doesn't turn until you press the pdc button, turn off the engine or drive forward at least a certain speed. Because even if the car is standing still or parked the obstacles aren't gone and pedastrians can still walk behind or in front of your car.

From an M2 LCI Owner (unsure if LCI is any different with the below)
1. Put it into drive (usually turns it off for me), then Park (AKA Neutral).
2. Cant relate
3. The seats - definitely agree, however this would be a strategy. Given how great it is and how close it is to the M3 and M4, BMW would still need to find a point of difference, otherwise people would just buy the M2 instead of the M3 and M4.
4. Fake sound makes me so damn happy!! haha
5. Totally agree hahah. Confuses so many people.
-
6 (the forgotten one): No front parking sensors (Boo hoo, still love it)
7. Pushing the off button twice to turn it off. When ever the family is swapping the cars around in the drive way, i 100% of the time hear the horn go off (for trying to lock it whilst electronics are still on) lol.

Regardless, i absolutely love this car!!

Get your Dad to buy you something else then. :)

Active sound can be easily disabled via a bypass cable or coding and you can simply add the parking sensor on/off switch from a basic 2 series, only a 10 min job.

Wife and I just watched your video - we have an M2 on order for Euro delivery in May - and you're absolutely right about the seats. The M3/M4 seats, both standard and Competition buckets, do look sexier. But you're also right about the M2 seats being comfortable. We've spent time in multiple M3 & M4 cars, both versions of their seats, and while they look amazing they aren't as comfortable. Of course a lot of it depends on body size - I'm 5'8 and 165 - and I can imagine others feeling the opposite way. But having spent time in these cars, we've concluded that if you choose your seats according to their appearance you'd go M3/M4, but if you choose seats according to how comfortable they are we found the M2 seats much more comfortable. Just our take, but comfort has to win over aesthetics - it's hard to enjoy a car if you aren't comfy, no matter how sexy the seats look from the outside.

For someone that seems to come from racing, you seem to lack an understanding of road vs race cars. All road cars, whether it be an M2, 911 GT3, or 488, the brakes are targeted for street driving. Which means they work great when cold. But unlike race bakes, they can't handle threshold breaking co near after corner, lap after lap. Change the pads in the M2 to track pads, just like you would with any other car, and the brakes are fantastic. No issue locking up r compounds. Basically the opposite of what you said.

1. Many people got a part from other 2 series. With a extra button to turn on/off the rear sensor, this is a shame.

2. The brake pads isn’t suitable for track use. It’s clearly written in the user manual. You need racing brake pads fitted before tracking.
