I am still a newbie even though I picked up the guitar years ago but never actually learned correctly and you actually made me use a metronome to practice even just chord progressions but it actually works to see progress and all those problems you have mentioned.

Im a drummer who also plays the guitar. I don’t have the best technique but thanks to drumming at least my timing is good I think and I realised more and more that many guitarists that I know are struggling with timing and never understood how they could have a worse timing than me even though they were playing more and longer than me

my math teacher did this by making the entire class heads down count a minute to show examples of graphs for data collection, and i remember pulling my head up when the timer hit 1 minute. I was so proud of myself

I'm playing polyrhytm game with my brother. One of us makes the tempo, and says the rhytm what the other of us playing. We always play in time cause of that (my bro needs to train a lil bit, but he is good)
