I’m so glad that you’re still doing educational videos like this because we’re never too good to keep learning

I am struggling with drums themselves. Can sing and play piano and guitar, but rhythm just doesnt come naturally to me. Much love to rappers, you guys dont get enough respect. Screw people that criticise your passion! That shits hard

This blew my mind! I never thought about the whole juggling thing and only being able to focus on one thing at a time! You do a great job at simplifying this rap stuff in a relatable way. Please don't ever stop teaching Cole!

You are so right! I asked my coach a few days ago to help me with my singing rhythm. I tend to sing all the notes as if they were all black. We discovered that one of my issue was that I let myself distracted too much with the lyrics and try to replicate too well what the original singer is doing. As you said, the brain is made to focus only on one thing at the time. She had me listen to 5-second segments of a song, stopped the song and had me to sing what I’ve just heard but only with la, la, la. She asked me to try not to give any importance to the lyrics. I now hear things in the original singing that I’ve never noticed before. Basically, I focus on the notes that are sung.

I love how you put so much emphasis on not over complicating what your doing instead l take what you learn to the zone and let your imagination and creativity teach you things.
I love taking what I learn adding my own formula to it

Rap wasn’t ‘real’ music to me…until I tried it 😂😢.
This video is spot on. Never thought of it this way, as part of the ‘multitasking’.

This is true…I stated noticing when I’m talking, depending on the subject, or what emotion is happening, will reflect on the beat. When I run into a mind block I stutter with rhythm and words..it’s intriguing…but this really does help! Thanks for that tip in class! Always great tips to help push ourselves! Thanks Cole!

Wow, that clapping example was excellent. What a great way to practice. I was pretty confident in my ability to do it based on my ability to predict rhymes as almost a second nature. To do this, you need to be in the pocket on the same count. I 🤔 think. Haha (still learning, just finished your 30vid in 30 days) Anyways, I did it for a minute and listened back. I stay in tempo kinda. Basically for 90% of the minute is was drifting between about 70 bpm and 75bpm. Just slight deceleration or acceleration. However! At about 40 seconds in, there was a very dramatic variation for about 5 seconds before returning to a normal fluctuation and if I had to guess, I'd say i was scattered between 70bpm and 83bpm ( a guess ) . The interesting thing about this is that I didn't notice at all when I did it. Only when I listened back.

Been awhile since I commented but have I been practicing. It's getting easier I have been able to change my scatts into lyrics.
