To understand how we intuitively climb, we need to study how we naturally move. The basis behind the First Rule of Climbing stems from contralateral movement, a pattern that occurs naturally in humans.

To be good at something, you need to know its principles. To be great at something, you need to know when to break those principles.

I’ve watched so many “how to” vids on climbing but yours explain small things that go a long way, thanks my dude!

I thought the first rule of climbing was "you always talk about climbing". Just kidding, very informative video. I was surprised by how intuitive those rules become once you consciously start applying them.

I love your temperament brother. And the fact that you are so humble and can teach the pants off most other guys I've seen is very inspiring.

Thank you! I've been climbing for two months now and I wish someone had explained this concept to me before. You make it so easy to understand. I'll definitely be consciously applying this at the gym tomorrow. I can't wait for more videos!

i am really new to climbing and this basic but fundamental things are blowing my mind. Thank you so much for doing videos like this and hope you continue to break down climbing into digestible portions. Videos like these explain why people look/flow so different when they climb

This is one of the best explanations of contralateral movement I've seen. Excellent!

Great video on describing such a simple technique in climbing but one of the most useful techniques ! When I learned this I learned it as: if I’m reaching with my right hand to the next hold I need to make sure that my right foot has a stable foothold (and vice versa). This way it helps prioritize footwork when climbing. Keep the good work! 👍🏼

I pretty love this simple video. It talks about the true spirit of leveraging gravity. Every climber should stay natural to the projects. Thanks!
