The biggest rule to getting stronger? Don't get injured. Pretty much the only rule you need to know. The strongest people I know are those who don't get injured and thus get to climb more and thus become stronger while others are still rehabbing

I'm 45 yrs old and achy most of the time (particularly right now) but I have been following certain guidelines that have been helpful.
1) tracking volume by counting hand moves. I do about 98% of training at home on a 45degree board. I track number of hand moves to make sure I'm not doing TOO much.
2) Waves! I do a sequence of 5 training sessions that slowly increase in volume, about 5 hand moves per sesh. After the 5th, I cycle back down to my first session but increase by 2 or 3 moves. The next 5 sessions will have a slightly higher volume.
3) If I'm too tired or stressed, I'll skip any accessory movements like extra pull-ups or whatever and keep the focus on the meat of the session.

I really like the idea of having a warmup that you can use to judge what level of effort you're capable of that day. I think that would make an excellent video. Some kind of simple warm-up/self test.

Perfect title. Just what I needed after I did a great Sunday session, so great and with so much volume that I had to skip all but yoga today.

Reality check in this video and the best point - don’t feel guilty about making a change or checking out!

Great tips one of the best videos yet! This helps relay the truth to how people feel when training no one’s a robot. Tip 5 don’t you think sometimes when you feel really bad I actually have some of the best sessions it’s sometimes a mind game. I would say push through and try hard 🎉

Does point one mean that I should train before normal bouldering? I've always done my training after up until now because I want to be powerful on the wall... :)

Very good tips - thanks! I also give myself a full rest day if for some reason I am not feeling motivated or strong enough. I am signing up for your Flexibility training program, so hopefully I'll soon replace those full rest days for some flexibility exercises! =))

Well, who would have thought, despite all the advice I got to the contrary, I was actually doing it right.

Find a training partner! I think that a partner makes all these "mistakes" easier to avoid!
