I took methimazole for about a year and a half and then my graves' disease went into remission. Stopped taking it about 6 months ago and my thyroid hormone levels came back normal recently. Such a relief.

I was diagnosed w/ Graves’ disease just over 5 years ago. I had to go on beta blockers for a few months until my thyroid medication kicked in and calmed things down. It took about 4-6 months before I weened off medications and so far I’m still in remissions. My endocrinologist really stressed to me how important to try and keep stress levels low. Calming exercises like walking, yoga, stretching, daily meditation, and light weights has also really helped me. I avoid toxic people and drama…..also Lemon Balm tea close to bedtime, magnesium glycinate, vitamin d, calcium in the morning, tumeric…….I avoid coffee as it really makes me trembly……prayer and binurial beats on in the background…..
I don’t do all of the above every single day, but a lot of this feels like it has really helped me. In a way, Graves Disease has made me really think about what I need to welcome in my life and what I need to extract…..maybe I was predisposed to it and it sucks but I really feel stress plays a huge role in this disease and autoimmune disease in general……I hope my suggestions are useful, I’m not an expert, just wanted to share what’s helped me.

I've been experiencing the same things. Anxiety and tremors are difficult. They prescribed me anxiety pills, but they decided to help myself in a natural way: exercise, laughter, proper diet and sleep, get sunlight, address cicardian rhythm, vitamins, especially B . Some days are good, some days are still bad, but more tolerable than before. Just started consistently doing it for a month. Hope this helps.

Sadly, I was diagnosed w/Grave's at the age of 29, in 1988. I was given no choice but to allow treatment w/radioactive iodine, effectively killing off my thyroid. So much more is known now, I so wish there had been alternatives back then!

I was misdiagnosed with Graves disease and was at the point of thyroid removal and a lifetime of maintenance medication. Found an article by 2 MDs at the Texas Heart Institute entitled Misdiagnosis of Graves Disease Due to Aspartame Poisoning. I started reading labels and removed aspartame from my diet (it's in everything "diet") and symptoms completely disappeared within 60 days.

I was diagnosed with graves disease 3 years ago. Back then my Tsh number was 0.01 and my T4 was 14.7. I remember the 1st symptoms were related to anxiety issues
(panic attacks) hot flashes, sweating like crazy, specially during bedtime, palpitations, a weird feeling in my back shoulders and arms, as If all the nerves were activated in those areas and insomnia to the point that I would stay awake the whole night. Eventually I started to have tremors and fast loss of weight.
I was put on remission after a treatment with methimazole, I was able to sleep and most of my symptoms were under control.
However I was supposed to go back for a check up every 3 months, which I haven't done.
I'm starting to have the 1st symptoms I mentioned before, for that reason I decided to do a tsh test on quest labs. The crazy thing is that the results of my tsh are normal (0.63). I'm sure all of my symptoms are related to my thyroids, regardless of the results. I'm having change of mood very heavily. I can be normal and all of the sudden depressed, irritable, etc

Have anybody here had an issue in which they had the symptoms but the tsh number was normal? if so, what was the follow up on that case? The anxiety is killing me, and lately I haven't been able to sleep well.

I don’t have even energy to exercise even I feel better . 10 min and I’m dead. With the medication I put weight on like crazy which freaks me out and I can’t stop eating. I can’t handle this.

What percentage of youth are misdiagnosed with anxiety when they actually had graves or hyperthyroidism. They need to start thyroid test at younger age. Also due to childhood trauma

I was premature weighing only 3Ibs and born with big eyes in early 80s they don’t pop out like the pics I see with people with Graves’ disease but as well as looking alien to my brothers looks wise my reflection has one eye lower than the other, I don’t recall my folks talking about if I had any eye disability from birth but I’ve had cruel jibes about looking “Retarded” all my life from school to work and it’s killed my confidence and self esteem I feel like i fought for my life to be here when I was given a 50-50 chance of survival and the society I’m living in treats me differently and unfairly
