Foods That Make Hyperthyroidism WORSE

If you have hyperthyroidism then you're going to want to avoid these foods as they can make your symptoms worse:

The first is any food that contains caffeine either naturally or because it's been added to it. That includes coffee, many teas, energy drinks, and even some medications.

The second would be the most common food allergens like milk, eggs, peanuts, soy, wheat, tree nuts, and shellfish. This is because hyperthyroidism results in more histamine production.

And third, foods that are high in iodine. You don't need to avoid iodine completely but high iodine content foods are not ideal.

I’m vegan and avoid seaweed, use Himalayan pink salt, eat Brazil nuts, and avoid food allergens like he says. I can go months without symptoms. I started back not having omega 3s or Brazil nuts and eating peanut butter and drinking coffee and all my symptoms came back. Hope this helps.

I wish to learn about foods I CAN eat. Removed eggs, dairy, gluten, nuts and fish, what’s left? Carrots and potatoes! My dog has a more varied diet than me 😭

I'm not so sure about the iodine part. I got diagnosed with graves 2 years ago. I started eating mainly eggs, meat, lots of liver, fish and chese, I avoid grain products and anything processed. I added a lot of supplements like D3, K2, Omega 3, Zinc, Magnesium, Boron, Tyrosine, Taurine, Tryptophane, Selenium and it got better. But I went severely hypo and I've had a congested sinus for years. I tried out iodine multiple times. Taking kelp capsules. Sometimes I got hyper from them but I felt more healthy. I slowly started to get accustomed to them now I take 200 mcg a day on top of my food and for the first time in 10 years my sinuses are clear and don't infect anymore. Also I finally came off of my thyroidblockers. One youtube canal which I don't remember right now also told that you can heal graves by taking iodine because most of the time it is some kind of deficiency (also selenium and other stuff). It took a long time but it keeps getting better and works. I'm really posotive that most of our modern illneses which almost nobody had like 200 years ago are just deficiencies and too much of the wrong stuff like sugar, fructose, and seed oils. Instead of protein, saturated animal fats like butter and cheese and so on.

But the interesting thing, when I do an iodine test on my body meaning I swipe it on my skin, and it disappears in an hour. Indicating that my iodine is low. I don’t understand how my iodine is high with hyperthyroid?

Wish more doctors did health teaching like this. No doctor has ever discussed with me foods to avoid 🙁

I have episodes of extreme anxiety, dizziness, sweating and increased heart rate if I eat a meal in the afternoon. It never happens after I eat breakfast or after dinner. Only in the afternoon. Are these symptoms explainable?

So, according to It's Me again, Jen (Save Your Thyroid) apparently the lower lobes of the thyroid have some control over the upper lobes. I think they called it "up regulation." This was discussed in her recent video abt a brand new technique where a specially targeted embolism is used to kill off part of the thyroid, but not necessarily the whole thing. It was prettu interesting to me.

Because of the extra histamine production, is it okay to take things for methylation support like Creatine, Vitamin B's, Trimethylglycine, etc..??
