Dealer Additional Services - What is GAP Coverage and Should you Get it?

GAP just saved one of my coworkers some major money recently. Long and short, she got rear ended in a hit and run, car totaled. She owed $18k on the car, insurance valued the car at $11.5k. The Gap covered $6.5k that she would have been on the hook for. Without the gap she would have owed $6500 on the totaled car and still had to buy another vehicle. With gap insurance she had a clean slate. On to the next one.

GAP is essential is you owe more on you loan than the price of the item purchased. Which to be honest is the case in most purchases. You take a huge hit the minute you ride away from the dealership. Inexpensive insurance to have if the worst happens. Good explanation. Take care.

I think gap means u have low credit score or not enough credit history or your income ratio is questionable. Let’s hear the comments ?
