Going to a state school was the best decision I ever made. I’m debt free making great money I never would have made if I didn’t get an education.

Postponing adulthood and having to look for employment is another motivation.

As true as that is most people cannot afford to pay for any college up front. Even community colleges now are expensive. And so many are cajoled into thinking college is the only way…add that to the inflated cost of college, ridiculous loan terms with unmanageable interest, and a job market that’s not keeping up, you have a student debt crisis.

My parents had money but wouldnt pay for me to go to college so i worked 3 jobs so i could pay for my degree from The Ohio State University. I had every bit of my college paid for without loans, grants or scholarships. I paid for it myself every Quarter. The day i graduated, i had everything paid from working.

😢😢That’s true, but it also depends on the degree. Too many kids get large debt for jobs that don’t pay well.

I started going to community college and realized I hated school anyways I’ve never been one to sit. Still dropped out went to work. I’ve been working since I was 15. I’ve been doing pest control for 27 years. I like it. It’s a great life home raised two kids been married 25 years, all you have to do is hard work and everything can be achieved without going in debt. You learn to live to your means if I don’t have it I don’t spend it. It’s a simple as that I’m raising children. I can’t screw around all my money goes towards raising a family, that’s my priorities. It’s probably because I had such a hell of a childhood I wanted to solid one for when I had kids.

We put so much emphasis on going to college and just graduating with something, it makes me sick. With the lack of skilled physical labor, I’m betting many jobs that come out of trade schools will pay better than undergraduate degrees.

I went to a state school but still incurred student loan debt. I worked 3 jobs through college, but had to cover living expenses as I lived either on or off campus. Not all parents help their children get an education. My parents could afford it, but just didn’t help.

I have three children. Two of them chose college. The one that didn't is more successful and happier with her life than the other two.

I started college by going to a local community college. With a low source of income (from a steady job) I sought every financial benefit I could use. I realized I would never finish college by taking one or two courses a semester. So I took out student loans to cover the rest.
I paid back my Student loans ahead of schedule. No regrets.

I went to a community college and found that the same instructor was teaching at the University college that I previously attended. I am debt free because of it. Community worked for me

It's a pretty good tool to keep us all down. If those of us who don't have student loan debt try to negotiate for better terms for a raise at work, or decide to try to form a union Etc, they can just replace us with someone who is being crushed by the student loan debt crisis.

Colleges and Universities are very over priced. I think student loan debt is subjective, depending on your major the cost may be worth it. I admit, I think I went the smart route, I did a community college for 2 years, then went to a 4 year college to complete undergrad.

exactly, idk why people think higher fees = higher education

Gotta make rent. Pay for a car, pay for groceries and everything else plus tuition and books. All while working a part time job.

People really do not give a damn about your school

They should have listened to him before they took the loan out!
Very good schooling for all ages.
He is a teacher we all sit up and listen to because he talks sense.

I have seen so many at that age and broke, surprised at how much they can actually get BUT NOT REALLY NEED .
But it’s so tempting they take it.
Blind to the fact it will be due at some point. Much of the loan goes to phones and car payments and food.

Went to the school of my choice. With a loan. Best decision ever. One size does not fit all. 40yrs later. Extremely successful
