Together we can copy textures from one mesh to another using texture baking. This may be useful when adding textures back to a low poly mesh after changing the topology, or vertex locations. All of this can be done for free using Blender.

you saved me a lot of pain. I was trying to arrange the UVs manually which took me so many hours and it still didn't turn out good. This was the perfect solution that I should of just researched earlier, d'oh. I'm new to blender and I have no idea how texture baking works.

Great tutorial! Other videos tried to talk me into messing with extrusion and max ray distance. creating a cage along the normals to cover up intersections was the solution!
