Helps if you scotch bright the metal first and then clean the shit out of it with rubbing alcohol before heating.

I’ve got an old Ithaca shotgun that was given to me broken. It had seen some use and abuse, anyways I fixed it up and sanded the receiver down to a nice finish and did the old torch and gun blue trick to it and wow did it turn out cool! Looks both old and new at the same time 👍

Try scorching the steel or iron until it glows and then drench (quench) it in linseed oil. That will give the metal an old style black color and protect it from rust too. In Sweden we used to do that for the metallic parts of windows and doors back in time.

I think theres one thing that keeps it from being as good as it could and that's a little extension on the end for prying on things as some olfas have. It's a super handy feature
