More State Farm Drive Safe and Save "Hard Braking" events. I think the algorithm for this needs to be fixed. I choose to stay with the program because I still get a good discount. Once these types of events impact the discount, I will reconsider if I want to stay with the program or not.

I’ve had this for about 4 months now, the entire time I’ve had 100% in all other categories except I got acceleration once and speeding once. My braking runs between 68-80%. I am NOT braking hard. It dings when I stop at a stoplight, stop sign, crosswalk, etc. Except a couple times when I’ve stopped quickly for cat or dog, I start pressing the brake at a reasonable distance and it is generally a very smooth gentle stop. I don’t know if I have it mounted wrong or what.

I have a Dodge Charger SE (So not high HP) and I never have had an event on my braking as I brake a lot sooner to gradually decrease speed, but I will say the Cornering events are very inaccurate when entering a highway through a curved entry to the access road and when at lights - I don't understand how one can get hit for Cornering on a turn that was in no way bad driving especially when performed by a sports car that has better turning than your average car and there is then no hit to speed, acceleration, and braking

Mine was good at first, but it has gotten a lot worse. My brakes typically last me 80, 000 miles so I know I'm not braking hard either.

I agree with you. What a good idea to match your Garmin video to the SF results. I dinged for braking also when I am very aware of my braking is not hard.

Also you should not be dinged for hard braking if required, like someone doing something stupid where you are required to brake hard or file an insurance claim.

I am also dinged for "cornering" in round-abouts.

I have to agree that the braking sensor is too sensitive. I wonder if it matters what angle the device is mounted at. Do windshields with a straighter up and down profile record more accurately then steeply angled windshields? Would I be better off mounting it on my rear view mirror????

Good to see. My app just went to 100% except braking at 90%, 4 events. I would guess only 1/5 are legit. I leave near a u turn road and have to go about 15mph to avoid fast cornering.

Hi Terri, thanks for uoloading these videos from time to time. Your driving seems very sensible and I cant understand how these are considered hard brake events! I have received my Beacon for my car and I am scratching my head about whether this will help me at all. I can see that you've been using this for at least 9 months. How have your experience + savings been so far? Thanks.

Question is. What was your "overall" score lets say within a week of all that?

I think it's flawed as well, or maybe the Beacon is just too sensitive to braking events. I've got 100 on Acceleration, Cornering and Phone distractions, 97 on Speed. But on Braking at 77! I get the same braking events in the same places regardless of how hard I brake. This DSS stuff really needs to be fixed!
