Health benefits of Phool Makhana/ Fox Nut/ Lotus Seed:
Makhana have a light nutty flavor. These can be eaten Raw, Cooked, n Boiled.
Phool Makhana can be ground into a fine Powder, to make a natural thickener , for soup and curries, and also used to make Makhana Roti(Indian flat bread). You can make your own Makhana flour by grinding nuts into a Powder with a spice grinder. Make sure to roast Makhana before grinding.

I have a question about #14— what is "the semen quantity contained in" these nuts?
Thanks for the information. My Mom used to serve them to me in a Chinese soup I believe is called Ching bo leung (Chinese: 清補涼), or that has a lot of the same ingredients.

These are not only super healthy but also delicious (roasted or "baked"), BUT (a big BUT) people are selling them at price of gold! Why? I know they are imported from India, but so are many other items and they don't cost like an troy ounce of gold!! Are sellers abusing the [growing] popularity of Makhanas?? I would buy much more if they were not so overpriced.

Far too many benefits attributed to one food item. So, taking it as medicine without supporting evidence is ill-advised. However, it might be good food. How does one use it as a food item?
