Rabbits are a popular alternative to traditional pets like dogs and cats. They are social, intelligent, and can be trained to use a litter box. Rabbits are also ideal for people who live in smaller spaces, as they do not require as much room as larger pets. However, it's important to remember that rabbits are prey animals, and can be easily scared or stressed by loud noises, sudden movements, or handling by inexperienced people.

Rabbits are the most high maintenance pet I’ve had lol. Constant cleaning/ grooming/ buying fresh food, your day basically revolves around them completely

You forgot the tiny little detail that they can and will chew through anything valuable in your house if you are ill prepared.

Definitely great pets! But definitely not low maintenance.

These animals are not low maintenance so please dont just buy your kid a rabbit without researching them. You have to be really sure and really dedicated to any animal. Also lots of species do need their hair maintained a specific way so no grooming is not always easy. With care an attention yes they are great companions but its at least a 10 year commitment so be aware.

“While they may not be as cuddly.” *shows rabbits being cuddly* 😂

A friend of mine had a rabbit, and he was awesome. He used the litterbox, and was very friendly. He was more playful, and cuddly than the cat. Him and the cat also got along wonderfully.

Absolutely NOT low maintenance! I'm speaking from experience. Plus they live longer than most people think (my boy Theo lived to 12, unfortunately his buddy Molly didn't live anywhere near as long due to a nasty abcess in her mouth that was too far gone by the time she showed symptoms). As prey animals they do not show symptoms of illness until it's really bad, so as soon as you see any signs and symptoms you have to act FAST. They need constant access to grazing so must always have hay available - gut stasis is usually a death sentence. Plus the vaccinations they need aren't cheap, and must be done yearly. Molly sadly lost most of her nose to myxomatosis, but had she not been vaccinated, she 100% would have died. She needed 2 reconstructive surgeries to her face and it still wasn't even close to normal for the rest of her life. These are all things you have to be prepared for, and much more, plus the daily care is far more involved than most people realise. You'll most likely need custom housing for them too, as almost all commercially available enclosures are way too small. I could go on for so much longer, but I'll leave it at that seeing as I've already waffled on for too long 😂

I had two rabbits for a while in my house. They gnawed and chewed on everything; furniture, cables, plastics, and even the cement walls as they tried to chip the paint off. In fact, the only thing they emphatically refused to chew were the plethora of chew toys I bought for them. They were certainly energetic and fun pets, but they were far from low maintenance. I finally had to gift them to a relative who had a farm were they could roam (and chew) at their hearts' pleasure.

My bunnies are weirdos then, cos they have the back yard but every time I let them go outside I turn around and they are back inside snuggling in their favourite spots.
Like weird introvert buns and when they do play it's inside and they run around, sometimes when they are feeling mischievous they will come up to me when I am doing laundry and steal a piece of clothing and run around with it just to keep it from me.

around 2 years ago, (nov 1st, 2022) my mom bought me a baby bunny for my bday. i rly wanted one at the time and i named it cuddles. he grew up with me and i took care of him everyday. i used to always take him on walks, feed him, and sometimes, bring him inside my room to play. around 1.5 months ago, i was inside my house getting food ready for my bunny. once i went outside, i realized that he was gone. his cage door was wide open and he was nowhere to be found. i started bawling my eyes out. i searched my whole entire neighborhood for him, yelling his name while still bawling. i searched and searched for hours, but i never found him. every since then, i have been looking for him every single day and i will never forget him. in courtesy of him, i just got a new bunny. it is 8 weeks old and i named it cocoa. she is a brown lionhead. to this day, i still hope & pray that cuddles is alive and well and one day, that i will be reunited with him. ❤
