Should you get a pet bunny? 🐰

Have you ever ask yourself, should I get a pet bunny? Bunny looks so adorable and fluffy. The reality is bunnies are very high maintenance pets. They require special care and rabbit savvy vet. Their vet bills are very expensive (up to thousands $$$$)! Most do not like to cuddle, when they want to cuddle they'll come to you, NOT the other way around. 🙃 Bunnies can live 10+ years under proper care.

Please don't be the one that impulsively buys a pet bunny for your child on Easter or any holiday. Sadly, many "Easter bunny" don't live up to their first birthday. Kids easily get bored of them after the "cute bunny" phase wears off. Bunnies need to be neutered or spayed when of age, or else they can be very territorial (bite, dig, pee everywhere, etc.). Neutering a bunny cost more than the bunny itself. Most people that don't do their research might dump the bunny in front of a rescue or worst in the wild. Domesticated bunnies cannot survive in the wild! They're prey animals, they'll be picked up by hawks, dogs, coyotes, etc. You can't even imagine how many times people around me would tell me "Oh, I used to have a pet rabbit too". And then their stories usually end with "I released it back into the wild", or "it got eaten by a neighbor's dog". Every time I hear stories like this I just cringe on the inside "omfg, wtf did you just tell me?". I still try politely to smile and not get mad. In the last 5 years, I've had so many weird encounters with this. I can make a whole video on it if anyone's interested.

Anyway, PLEASE DO as much RESEARCH as possible before getting a pet bunny. When you're ready, consider adopting. There are many cute bunnies in the shelter that needs a home.

Thanks for reading until the end! 😇

Hey! This was taken from our play date with Mason, Mari, and Rupert last yr. Just wanted to share that bunnies are not "Easter bunny" or suitable gifts for Easter or any holidays. More info in description. ☺️

Thank you for making this. It’s SO important for people to know this before they get a rabbit. Most people wouldn’t get one or two if they knew how much work they are to take care of them properly. Also, bunnies need to be with a companion bunny. That’s EXTREMELY important. If they don’t, they will exhibit unwanted behavior because they’re not happy. Thanks again. You’re so kind to make this.

I'm adopting my rabbit, Mitty in two days. I've done all the research I could that lead up to this moment. He's going to be free roaming my entire room, and hopefully down the line, my entire house!

I see a lot of bunny videos and I would love to start having one, but right now is not the moment. I hope one day, when I feel confident of myself, I can have a pet bunny :3

I got my first bunny when I was 8. But before then, I had practice with pet rats. Now my family is known as the bunny family, and is known for taking in bunnies that need a home. 11 years experience going strong.

Thank you! No cages, habitats; bunnies are not for just anyone, not for everyone, especially children. Bunnies are social and need loving care and attention. They are very intelligent. Ours is a free roam, potty trained, loving companion 💓🐰💓

I adopted my bunny cuz they got tired of her after a few months. She was purchased as an Xmas gift, and was kept in a cage for the first months of her life. It’s very tilting when people don’t understand that pets are living creatures and a life commitment.

Happy Easter! So glad for the video. I hear some people get bunnies because of Easter and then give them up once they realize how much work they are.

you are right. They are not a starter pet. Bunnies need to be incorporated into the family like you would with a dog.

Yes, I would get more if I could. I love them with all my heart and they do require so much more than just the normal routine of feeding them and cleaning their litter box. They require so much more such as love and soo much attention when they feel like it 😂

My bun has been so expensive. Over $1500 just to find out she has untreatable cancer. Soul crushing and expensive

That was such a perfect summary. Never had a bunny, but when I had rats I learned that all of this advice except the cage stuff applies to pretty much every exotic pet. :)
