Your bunny isn't a dog. The are prey, and at the bottom of the food chain. Which means you have to earn their love. You have to spend time with them, be patient, calm, sensitive, responsible, willing to take risks and educate yourself. After all that, and your bunny can feel comfortable and at peace around you. They'll be excited to see you, do as you say, and not run away from you At the of the day? Its worth it. You earned your bunny's love. It just takes patience.

I feel like one con is also that they can be super territorial! Also they're just very fragile... fragile GI system, very fragile skeletons, etc. Sadly one of our bunnies at the rescue fractured a couple of vertebrae recently; we still are not sure how exactly (suspect he was playing/binkying and something spooked him and he twisted a little harder than intended).

Both of my rabbits smell SO good!! I don’t know why or how, they both smell super sweet and my father sometimes even asks if I did something or put perfume on them. ( No, I never would put perfume on them 😅🐰)

Learn from this video! Especially watching your rabbits. I went out for one night and came back to my eldest rabbit who hadn’t eaten his dinner(which is quite unusual for him), I just thought he didn’t like it. This one moment of “he just didn’t like it” turned into an emergency. He was rushed into the er that following night barely breathing and bloated. He spent 4 nights in the ICU. His stomach then became so gassed up that he need emergency abdominal surgery. He had a 5% chance of survival rate. His stomach was approximately 30-45minutes away from bursting when they opened him up. He somehow pulled though this and now is doing extremely well, unlike my bank account. What ended up happening was while I was gone he had chewed the carpet and swallowed a piece which blocked the exit of his stomach. Please always watch them eg with a camera, or have someone watch them. If u can’t then please bunny proof!!

pros:
- you can talk to them and they actually understand you :)
- they can flop right next to which is one of the best feelings
- you can play together (me and my bunny love to run around the garden and he’ll bring some zoomies and binkies into it!)

I got lucky with the cuddling part, my rabbit Rin let me hold him for an hour straight a few days ago. He even fell into a deep sleep and he would twitch every so often, I think he was dreaming. He likes to either cuddle up as close as possible to my leg, on my lap or in my arms. He's been like this literally since the day I got him.

I want you to know that my bun used to live in a cage with a corner litter box and hay rack. After I saw your bunny I free roamed her and she has a cat litter box filled with hay

I can definitely attest to the loyalty part. When I was a kid, two of our rabbits, Louie and Willow, were effectively couple in our household. Their houses were right next to each other, their bowls were right next to each other, and they would always be laying down next to each other. When they passed, their ashes were mixed together and buried in front of a tree outside my bedroom.

We just recently got a rabbit. She is adorable. But the one thing I wish I had done was buy things like the playpen, the carrier, bedding, appropriate flooring for playpen etc first over a period of months. Having all that expense in one month blew our budget right out the window. So I would suggest that anyone who wants a rabbit gets all that in place before getting the rabbit and it's food. She is an emotional support animal for our adult son and the change in him has been amazing. So, for us, having to eat hay this month is totally worth it.

I see more pros rather than cons. They definitely have kept me more happy and seeing their reaction when you enter the room and binky... Such a great feeling. Love my bunny.

Once you get a bunny, the cons are nothing!! Mopsy is so low maintenance for me at this point as she just lives her daily life as a free roam in my room and just loves her life!

Here's a con from my late rabbit (RIP, buddy): They might keep taking off vent covers. My bunny would keep removing the vent covers to use the vents as a blow dryer. A true Angora diva

They are the smartest animals I’ve witnessed so far, both of my rabbits have memorized my schedule to the point where they know when food is coming/ bedtime/ playtime. They even recognize what the weekends are and know mommy sleeps in so breakfast will be late! The pros definitely outweigh the cons💞💞💞

Having had my heart broken by three hamsters that were gone FAR too soon, I concur that longevity is a “pro” for a Bun. Plus, there’s nothing like when your Bun stalks you for treats! They stare. Their little nose twitches. They run around you. Plus, it is 100% true that a pet rabbit looks like an Easter decoration all year round. The one downside, especially in 2022, is that between litter, lettuce, kale, raddicio, and toys, a Bun costs close to a car payment every month. You’ll get more mileage out of a rabbit. And like an exotic foreign car needs a specialist for repairs, a rabbit requires an exotic veterinarian.
