my husband lost his job when we had a new baby, four year old twins, a six year old and an eight year old. He had to enroll the twins in school. I became the bread winner and made enough to keep the house going. One night I got home and my husband apologized for being upset when I was a stay at home mom and he thought staying home was easy. He learned first hand how difficult it actually was. I really was proud of him for that.

I met a man who was laid off and spent all day with his stay at home wife and kids. He said being a stay at home mom was easy. After further questioning, I found out that he did nothing to help his wife the whole time he was at home laid off, except for man duties ( trash a "garage work"). He said he was bored, and then complained when his wife left him at home with the kids while she went to grocery shop.

Staying at home with my kid for days on end as a working father was the biggest eye opener I've had in a long time. It's exhausting.

I feel that one of the hardest parts of being a stay-at-home mom is that there's no end to it. You don't get off work at a certain time. It's a 24/7 responsibility.

I love how he’s like “watch your kid.” Um, no you’re *raising* that kid. On top of maintaining a multi person home they’re educating their kids, teaching them words, ethics, habits. Stay at home moms do so much.

For my dad it was easy; he made us stay quiet and not bother him, also to do most of the housework then go to bed. He didn't want to talk, deal with problems, take us to the store, etc. No going out looking for Halloween costumes or when we needed shoes replaced. Sometimes he'd give us cash, drop us off at the mall then come back in a couple hours expecting us to have figured out our wardrobe. Any talking involved was chewing us out for not being better behaved. I decided to raise my kids differently, and that takes a lot more time.. but we're a lot closer and happier.

As a nanny my job is literally to be someone mom when their mom is at work and it’s definitely not easy. It’s not surgery which the mom I work for is a surgeon, but everyday I work she and her husband thank me a million times because they know that it isn’t easy.

Even if he did have a wife and children when he stayed home, we can assume, since he's talking about stay at home moms, that his wife is one! No wonder he was bored, she's doing it all!

I’m an adult woman, and I had to run the house and take care of 4 children for only four days when my parents went out of town for a wedding. I broke down on day TWO, I almost cried. Thankfully I was able to get into a pattern and figure it out, but it was constant work and it was exhausting. It’s a full time job. Mad respect to all stay at home parents out there.

I paused this and laughed hard. This single mom of three special needs kids is sitting here laughing. Being a parent is more than just cleaning and “watching” your kid. Boy bye. 😂

I'm the stay at home mom in our house. I've been a welder, a roofer, a landscaper, and more, but this is so much harder. It never ends. You never get to clock out. No weekends off. He has no idea what he's talking about.

My Mom was a stay home wife/Mom and I can’t thank her enough for all the sacrifices, hard work, and love she put in everyday. It is 100% a job.
