This post, as many others, completely distort what Rowling has said. She did not say she won't forgive them for what they said about her, she said that instead of apologizing to her they should apologize to those they harmed with their actions. If you have to lie about someone to attack her, it shows a lot about your morals.

I can empathize with both JK and Dan & Emma.

On JK's side, I do believe that deep down she means well, and I think that her views on this topic have been the result of many factors.

On the one hand, she's a survivor of sexual assault and understandably, she's worried about any perceived way predators could encroach on safe spaces for women. Naturally, I disagree with her assertion that predators would use trans protections to do this. I sincerely doubt predators would wait for a legal loophole to victimize people. If you're going to violate the law by preying on people, why would you bother following the law to get to those people?

I also empathize with her as being someone that probably wasn't exposed to the very existence of trans people until she was at least a middle-aged adult and struggling to understand it. As a cis millennial guy, I wasn't really exposed to trans people until my late teens/early 20s and I really struggled to understand it too.

Likewise, I think the condemnation she's received and the hate have caused her to double down on her views, and surround herself with people that share similar beliefs which has made her views become even more misinformed.

But on Dan & Emma's side, I agree with their standing with trans people. Trans people don't need Rowling's understanding to deserve the right to be treated with equal dignity to their cis counterparts. And JK Rowling actively campaigning against their rights should be actively resisted. Especially by high-profile people who have worked alongside JK Rowling such as Dan and Emma.

Although I agree with JK's opinion and statement, she cannot expect Daniel and Emma to not try to fix the mess she made with her insensitive tweets, she divided a fandom who used to adore and protect her. Plus, Daniel and Emma ARE pop celebs/actors she should know the pressure they have. Yeah, sure JK started their careers but it doesn't mean they have to agree with everything she says, the three of them spent their childhood filming her books

Emma and Dan should have been more grateful for their opportunities given by Rowling. They cared more about their image.

Harry Potter is her original work and people tried to take it for themselves. How dare they! I’m a Harry Potter OG fan. I was the age of the kids in the books as they came out and I think a few people lost their minds for trying to take over her work. Unbelievable
