Full context matters. The kid ended up taking the police on a chase before they finally stopped him. The claims of "he was trying to get gas for a friend" ended up being false. Store footage shows them stealing from the gas station and when the cops responded and tried to solve the issue, the teenager fled, causing several accidents. So no, this young Black teen was not innocent at all. His wrecklessness could have injured or even killed someone
