Parents often share with me that they are concerned about their kid's self-esteem. The way kids develop self-esteem and build their confidence is not through parents giving them reassurance or through sitting in a therapist's office. In this video I explain how to help your child with ADHD build their self-esteem.

Thank you!!! Everything on point! As a mom of ADHD son. I will be definitely watching because sometimes we all feel defeated and just want to understand and help.

And sometimes, trying to push their self-esteem has the opposite effect. I was an undiagnosed child, and was regularly told I could do or be anything I wanted, and it only made me feel worse because I wasn't living up to that potential.

Its true...no adult with no purpose/skills or job has self-esteem. Adhd kids thrive in sports. It's good place to also learn social skills mixing with other kids and playing sport.

The amount of time, money and opportunities that are lost on kids is mind bogling. This crap where someone just makes up a method they think sounds or feels good to solve a problem would never fly in the business world. I don't know why we let it fly with our kids. Thank you for speaking out about it.

You make sense. My 11 years old son is doing therapy talking but we always argue there and always arguing daily even simple chore he wont comply. He doesn't have self esteem that he doesnt even want to go out of the house anymore. Two days ago we started his ADHD medication we are overwhelmed by his non self regulation behavior and no respect for parents. Is this the right thing to do?

What do you think is the best medication for a child with ADHD? My son is 12 years old and his doctor put him on the depression medication Prozac. It seemed to be helping for a while but now I feel as if after 5 months we are right back where we started!
I hate to say this but he is literally driving me crazy. Stealing. Lying. Doing anything and everything he can to get himself sent home from school last year. He has an IEP but he isn't properly learning. I need to know what medication I can ask his doctor to put him on. I need to try something else for him.
