Can you get VA disability benefits for high blood pressure that is caused by exposure to certain toxins during your military service? Since the PACT Act was passed last year, there are now presumptions in place for a connection between hypertension (high blood pressure) and agent orange exposure.

Join us as Dale Davidson, Veterans Affairs Attorney, reads a letter from a Veteran who is trying to get disability benefits for high blood pressure. He'll explain why this Veteran was likely denied for benefits and what you can do to ensure you'll get approved!

You took a long time to say very little. Get to the point!!! If your blood pressure beings controlled by meds, you should automatically qualify by common sense.

I was granted a 0% rating for hypertension thru the pact act. I want to know if I can claim my sleep apnea as secondary to my hypertension. Can this be done? Has it been done?

I served in combat in Viet Nam. Years ago I was disgnosed by the VA for high blood pressure and have recieved medicatio for it from the VA ever since. My service officer advised me to apply for benefits from the PACT act so I did. I recieved a letter stating that indeed I had high blood pressure and my claim was approved however they awarded me 0%. So crazy and frustrating and a waste of time.

Hello. I have Sys ranges (135-150) & Dia Ranges (95-125)

3 readings 110-120 (Dia)
1 Reading 120+ (Dia)

All recorded over a week & 5 mins apart. What percentage could I qualify for?

Does the VA think we will avoid taking a blood pressure medication just to keep our the level high to possibly get a few hundred dollars each month?

I wish they would connect HPB for all combat veterans instead of carving out just Vietnam veterans.

Every nurse I see at the VA hospital says high blood pressure and yet my primary sits in her duff and does nothing. Same person that say degenerative means arthritis.even have that in a letter she sent me with the va letterhead. Veteran in need of help and before you say dav. The fav I went to said I had to use the dav in the state I got out of the army okay. Now I know that dav is just another tool but how do you get by that when you can't afford to hire a va lawyer for misdiagnoisis or lying to the veteran. I have the letter that.clearly has her name all over it is this sething I should take to there chief of medicine or just go after team all period. This va center is one of the worst I have seen in the United States veteran needing help

So, Hypertension is covered for Vietnam Vets but not Afghanistan or Iraqi Vets? I have Hypertension after Afghanistan. I was exposed to lots of burn pits. Thanks for what you do.

Great video.
Question . What if I am 58 years old and have just been awarded 60 percent? Would the 55 year old rule still carry me?
Also .... Do you know the success percentages on a Migraine supplemental appeal?? I did the supplemental and included much more evidence, like migraine logs, 2 more Nexus letters and Prescriptions. Just curious, been waiting a few months.

My late husband, Vietnam combat veteran, (NOV 69- NOV 1970) agent orange sprayed on a firebase for 12 months. He had HBP WHEN HE WAS ACTIVE duty, hbp when he retired from army. Over years applied for benefits for hbp. Always denied. Finally in 2019 he was awarded 100% for Ischemic heart disease, PTSD, AMONG others. Unfortunately he passed Dec 2, 2022. With heart diseases and alzheimers listed as cause of death. I was Finally awarded DIC on june 1, 2023. My question is: am I due any compensation for now presumptive hbp, that he had ever since Vietnam and rest of his life. He was continually under care of a cardiologist until his death. Thank you for your time

I was a "post-Vietnam" veteran. I was exposed to a toxic chemical and was rushed to the E.R. The doctor said I suffered a "Chemical reaction" to the paint. This has affected my lungs and my blood pressure to this day. But, since I was not in Vietnam I'm S.O.L.

I am convinced that any VA program is a sales talk. When I worked at the VA. They could still tell you the line
That it was about veterans it is definitely not only about veterans. It is about staying in business. Generally if you work for them the middle management clerical staff and supervisors decide. I recently re enrolled for my hypertension same story. I had the condition when I left the service in 1970. Now it has progressed to a heart murmur and a progressive heart block jog the second or third degree variations. This is consisten with my left ventricular enlargement is most likely due to my hypertension
I received billing for my meds. I received billing for a cataract procedure which I did not apparently have So going by my drivers license I am required to drive 9:49 with glasses. The VA here doesn’t provide transportation. They don’t even have a schedule or routes for the bus system
I retired as an RN. When I was working I made arrangements for procedures referrals. And further appointments at the VA no one does this. John Ray RN

The VA will automatically deny you the first time. I take 3 different bp meds and even though I received a 10 % rating but no compensation for it. I am appealing the decision because I have proof that I am qualified for a higher rate. Today's reading first thing in the morning, 212 over 109.

My husband is on 2 different continuous medications for his high blood pressure. This gives him a good reading, but he’s had high to very high blood pressure as long as I’ve known him, 45 years! Many times the VA has taken his blood pressure twice to make sure it wasn’t a false reading. He was recently awarded only 10% for that. 🤷🏼‍♀️
