Extended Darth Maul Vs Qui Gon Jinn Fight Deleted Scene

Did you know that Darth Maul almost made it onto Padme’s ship while fighting Qui Gon Jinn? This deleted scene from The Phantom Menace shows that the fight between Darth Maul and Qui Gon Jinn was actually intended to last a little bit longer than it did! As we can see here, Qui Gon jumps onto the ramp of the ship but Maul runs up and jumps to the ramp right behind him!
The two of them duel it out for a bit longer until Qui Gon manages to push Maul off of the ramp! I think they should have kept this clip in the movie as it adds to the tension and it makes more sense as to why Qui Gon is more exhausted when he falls back into the ship. I actually found it weird how he seemed to just let Qui Gon go. He could have been on that ramp before him. Now it makes far more sense.

I would have loved to have seen this in the movie bc it definitely does explain quigon jinns exhaustion after that duel it makes sense.

I had the comic adaptation so I knew about this back in 1999. The way the scene played out in the actual movie just seemed off so I knew it had to have existed at some point.

I like how they chose to cut this arguably significant part of Maul's ambush, but the extended podrace/racer introduction scenes? Man, those were so important that they absolutely HAD to add them back into to the film years later!

Nah, I kid. It does feel like this was a bit more relevant to the plot overall, though. It helps put into perspective how much of a "menace" the sudden appearance of a Sith Lord was to the Jedi, and somewhat foreshadows how Maul is defeated at the end of the film.

That felt more like George Lucas then the whole movie
