After Effects - Retain Layer Sizes/Crop Problem

When importing a PSD to AE, I love the feature of groups becoming nested comps. What I hate is that the nested comps can’t have the dimensions of it’s contents, as opposed to the dimensions of the PSD.

Pretty simple. Ungroup the objects in PS beforeimporting but ensure they’re on the same layer. I have a project with over 3, 000 illustrator layers, with each “grouped” set of objects ungrouped before importing. It works great and is far more efficient to render than having each layer be the full size of the comp. Just be careful not to “reset transformations”. And if you want multiple layers to behave as a group, use an expression for each dependent object referencing one of the layers as a parent.

Never mind I found the solution. You have to save Ps or Ai file as previous version, this contains the layer size in Ae.

have you tried to get inside the new comp that contains the psd elements and give it the same size of your document? That should solve your problem
