Import Illustrator File to After Effects for Animation

If you cant release the layers as shown, do not toggle select all layers and release to sequence, it yields no result. Instead, just select (highlight) the main layer and release. This is what worked for me.

this doesnt work when you open after effects import the ai working fiile and double click your layers are all there in the timeline. mine isnt it just opens as one lasyer

So these are two ways to import - one by importing layers from an illustrator file and converting them to shapes, and another is by importing PNG files? When I import my AI Illustrator file, I cannot see anything in After Effects. Also the layers are not there.

Mt export assets export as Asset 1, Asset 2 etc. How are your assets named like the layers???

Import as Composition was not an option for my computer only import as footage was an option however there was a check box for Create Composition.
