I lived next to that hospital for 15 years. many people died there. I had no inclination to go in.

And it is a well known fact that the basement that got flooded was the morgue so that water is full of human remains. Families of the deceased were never able to retrieve their bodies for burial, and its believed that this abandoned hospital is one of the most haunted places in New Orleans, if not THE most haunted. I had family that worked there before Katrina and even back then it was scary 😵‍💫 the flooding in that hospital is an example of why the majority of buildings in New Orleans don't have anything below a ground floor. Most homes are on elevated foundations due to the city being barely above sea level.

Some people don't realize this but stagnant water can be very deadly. Falling in or thinking it would be a great scuba diving adventure can kill you obviously not instantly but then again...

Imagine the germs that are accumulated in this flood water in the basement of this hospital for 20yrs.

I lived in New Orleans back in the 1990's. I remember someone telling me, that if their children misbehaved, they would tell them: "When bad little boys and girls die, they don't go to hell. They go to Charity Hospital."

I wouldn’t wanna be in that room even with full hazmat coverage 😳

It fucked me up hearing that “nearly 20 years” part… that’s crazy to think about. Katrina doesn’t feel like it was all that long ago

Building a city below sea level has got to be one of the dumbest ideas ever

It has probably been replenished by rain water leaking through the structure, can’t imagine that little evaporation has taken place

As a microbiologist, I’m curious to see what’s in that water

I still remember the feeling of my dad's steps through that dirty water while he carried me on his shoulders lose trees falling living on the bridge with tons of other family's trying to avoid the super dome one of my first memories I was 4 had nightmares of drowning for several years after that

They're so cool knowing that that water was exactly from Hurricane Katrina in 2005

Once again taxpayers, pay close attention to the leadership in these places. Twenty years to tear out this mess and it is still there.
