I honestly can not see why anybody would say these places are creepy. You will never see buildings made like these ever again. With that being said they are some of the most beautiful places and structures you will ever see in your lifetime. Simply amazing what the world used to be.

Lee Plaza used to be a beautiful building ... my great aunt used to live there in the early 80s .. it started to go bad in 1988 until it closed ... sad ..

I was a girl scout in the 1980"s. We went on a field trip to Bodie. It felt so creepy. My very first time in a place like that.

Bannerman's island is actually opened to tours during the warmer months, and occasionally an elderly woman that lived on the island as a kid would tell stories some her time on the island. It's a great day if your in the area and want to see it for yourself. But your not allowed to get close to the remaining main castle for fear of it collapsing.

Buildings in Bodie ghost town are not restored, but preserved in a condition called "arrested decay". Essential pieces and sections are replaced to prevent further decline or even collapse, but that is all.

Supposedly, the U.S. Navy has again supposedly cut a tunnel between the Pacific Ocean and the Naval Faculity out in a lake, an endemic lake at that. I don't see how they could do this without changing the salinity of the water in the lake? I suppose it could be if said channel were wide enough and controlled by a lock system in allowance with differences in elevation. They would have to completely avoid the San Andreas Fault along with all the other faults and possible magma chambers. So I am saying that they would have to have some advanced engineering technology to pull that off.
