The possibility of bounties can make pirates fearless but also really REALLY dumb.
This fearlessness coupled with carelessness has made these greedy opportunists so blind that they end up hijacking the wrong ships.
So let's look at times when Somali pirates ended up messing with the wrong navies…

Thank you for the update, The Squeezed Lemon..!! A couple of years ago, I came across a video clip of a cargo ship of unknown nationality hiding big guns and waiting for the pirate boats to approach them on purpose. It looked like highly skilled mercenaries were guarding the ship, and when the buzzer rang to fire their weapons, they got rid of all the camouflage clothing from their naval machine guns and started shooting at the pirate boat all at the same time. 🥶

The word we is in reference to Americans who were formally... Initially anyway northern Europeans the British Navy used to use pirates to their advantage. The United States was very instrumental in stopping all fishing off the coast of the Horn of Africa because it was interfering with what we had designated as trade routes not being able to fish... Not being able to eat or feed their families often puts people in a situation where they make poor choices. That was what I meant and I stand by that weather people agree or not. That is my opinion. It is well researched. I've come to that conclusion and again I stand by it
