Had to look this one up. When I did, I realized I always sit with my tongue pressed against the roof of my mouth. I guess it’s habit.
I had my adenoids removed at age 7, because of my airway. I also had a palate expander when I was 9-10, as my mouth had not formed properly. The ENT and the orthodontist simplified it as mouth breathing from an obstructed nasal airway led to dry oral mucosa, which led to a small mouth. You can’t tell from the outside, but I’ve been a dentist, orthodontist, and oral surgeon’s worst nightmare. It’s not exactly fun having your mouth stretched every time you get dental work, because you can’t open wider. I can also spot a chronic mouth breather from a mile away. If this is a problem with your children, do them a tremendous favor, and get it fixed!

A lot of people are hindered from mewing because of a posterior or submucosal tongue tie. If you can’t mew and have restricted tongue movement, look into getting a frenectomy.

I think i’ve been mewing my whole life. 15 and only just noticed when i’m not paying attention, my tongue sticks to the top of my mouth. My jaw has always been well formed

When I had braces they put a spacer in the roof of my mouth since and it improved my breathing a lot, breathing thru ur nose daily is key to all of it and it's understated as a starting point

Over the last couple of years the Gap in my teeth has been getting smaller I don't know if this is because of Mewing but that is a befit. I can also now ride a bike and breath through my nose the whole time.
