What if Japan Was Divided After WWII?

preview_player
Показать описание

After the end of World War II, numerous territories that were formerly held by the Axis Powers were divided up and occupied by the victorious Allies, such as Germany and Korea. However, one notable exception to that was Japan, who, though both the United States and Soviets were planning on launching their own invasions of the nation, after the droppings of the atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Japan surrendered, and came under full US occupation. But, what if that changed? What if, instead of surrendering, Japan was invaded and divided between America and the Soviet Union? Enjoy!

I don't think Tokyo was on the list, there were other cities, such as Kokura and Sapporo.

As for the capitals for each of these two, I think it be something like this:

South Japan would most likely keep Tokyo as it's capital, as it was the capital before the war. Or they could move it to the ancient capital of Kyoto, to have the Government be as far as possible from the Northern Communist government.

Meanwhile North Japan would have either Aomori, the northern most city of main island of Honshu. Or Sapporo, the largest city of Hokkaido where most of the Soviet forces would possibly be.

I am happy that Japan surrendered in August 1945. The Japanese made the right decision because it prevented Japan from being divided. 1) A North Japan regime would be threatening the USA up to this day. 2) There might have been a Japanese War like the Korean War. 3) Many Japanese families would be divided. 4) The division of Japan would have derailed an economic recovery of the country. 5) Even if Japan reunited at a later time, she would have had the problem reintegrating North Japan into Japan as Germany 🇩🇪 had with East Germany after 1990.

As an aside, Russia 🇷🇺 should return the Northern Territories to Japan. Japan is a quasi-divided nation because of the Northern Territories dispute.

What if the Atomic Bomb was dropped on Tokyo? (At the time, people thought thr Atomic Bomb was just a big bomb. They did not know the lasting effect of it.)
