Fun fact: the mutant hounds and behemoths have glitched textures in the final version of Fallout 4 so their glowing variants appear normal. This was never fixed in Fallout 4 for some reason, but was fixed for Fallout 76.

The centaur is an excellent example of how absolutely horrifying FEV really is in a way that super mutants don't convey.

The concept for Fallout 4 screams John Carpenter’s “The Thing” (1982)

"Uh yeah scrap one of the most unique enemies in the series for a green dog"

They shouldve just made centaurs become independent creatures over time since theyre already evolving. Imagine the horrors of having to clear out a centaur infestation

I remember seeing one in a Crater for the first time in fallout 3 when i was 12. Sent shivers down my spine

The most scary enemies in Fallout universe. They look like they came straight from Resident Evil.

the only enemy in fallout 3 to actually make my skin crawl, remember seeing one for the first time near rivet city and saying "what the fuck is that"

The centaur should have been in Fallout 4 I remember that very well in Fallout New Vegas and they would have been with the mutant hounds and the super mutants that would have been a hard fight to get through all of them

I really like Fallout 3 and NV’s Centaur look. I find it a missed opportunity that we weren’t able to get intelligent Centaurs as it could prove interesting.

Feral Ghouls and super mutants were unpleasant enemies in fallout but centaurs where the first (and probably only) enemy that, when I encountered them for the first time, had me sitting in VATs, genuinely unnerved, for what felt like minutes wondering. “What the hell am I looking at?”

Why do the centaur look like it’s in contact agony I feel like every time I kill one I’m ending their suffering.

The howl that the mutant hounds made was pretty cool but their designs just looked goofy, not terrifying enough. The oversized heads kind of ruined them. Could've looked way more intimidating, meanwhile the centaurs looked like nightmare fuel. Fallout 4 made things look and feel more friendly, colorful and less gnarly, overall. Some creatures really stood out though. The ghouls had great designs, for instance.

My first Fallout experience was Fallout 3. I remember I had just cleared out the raiders under the bridge near the Brotherhood of Steel and made my way to the bridge that crossed the river towards the Jefferson Memorial and my finger slipped and activated VATS. I didn’t realize anything was near enough to activate it as my camera zoomed in on the very first Centaur I had seen at that point. I was so genuinely terrified and disgusting. I yelled out, “WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT!?” so loud that my dad burst into my room with so much anger in his eyes until he turned to look at my tv and said the exact same thing. We’ve both been huge fans of the games ever since.

F3 centaurs are terrifying. That fallout 4 model looks like a cartoon in comparison

These guys would’ve been awesome to have honestly, the creatures in fallout 4 are too neat, it needed some erratic irradiated genetic monstrosities like these guys
