minecraft! IRL & IRT. I did this about 20 years ago w/ chicken wire, paper-Mâchét and quickcrete my kids wanted a castle tower and "bat cave" play-yard. They helped build it, everything took us 3 summers to build. It was magnificent!

I’ve been using your aluminum foil method and it’s amazingly realistic.
Although I discovered the heavy duty foil gives a better result and easier to remove.
Thank for another great video!

I used some large fake boulders in one of my front yards that I did years ago only mine were made from fiberglass. They held up well over the years and they looked very realistic. People didn't realize that they were fake.

HI, Thank you for sharing this video and technique with us all. I was wondering if you could advise on how much time it generally takes to complete rocks of the size in this video?

This is great! I love to landscape with large rocks but have no way to transport them. I also am a DIYer. I have sand carved in small rocks when my father owned a monument business years ago so people could mark their pets graves. I really want to try this. Probably have to wait until my back heals from back surgery in September though. I have lifted way to many heavy things throughout life. 😊

I need to make something like this for a playground at the local college in my area. how strong are these cardboard versions when you are all done? would it hold the weight of multiple small children haha? I am currently thinking about using a wood skeleton with wire mesh. Thanks for your advice if you have any! great looking results with your texturing! very inspiring

Wish you would have commented on the weights of the finished products. That’s kinda important to most people cuz the whole idea is that they are easy to relocate to final destination. And also would have been nice to have gotten idea as to final cost of materials for each size rock.

The way you flick you wrist as you apply that mud off the brush would work great for throwing a knife in the side arm technique! You should try it out if you haven’t before!

I'm trying my first cardboard rock.. but wondering what glue you're using before applying the mortar? Sounds like it also acts like a seal of some sort. Please let me know! thank you!
