GCSE Maths Revision - Solving linear Equations (2) Involving fractions

Well. Exams in 8 days. I know for a fact I will fail. The word problems are unnecessarily difficult. I've thought about not turning up at all, maybe then I'd save myself the trouble.

Seriously, screw mathematics. Used to love the subject with all my heart. I used to think it was an explanation to everything in the universe. Now? Now it turned into a mess of problem-solving and women buying x meters of cloth and friends dividing up their money and 40% juice mixed with water and workers working together on projects they were obviously supposed to finish on their own. Now I despise it.

I thank you nevertheless. Your efforts are noble, and you certainly helped clear up a fair few topics. Unfortunately, sometimes there are faults with ourselves. Sometimes we simply lack the brainpower.

I used to watch Mr Hegarty in 2014 when I was doing my GCSE's and he formed the way way I looked at maths and carried out problems. I got all A stars in GCSE and A levels. Last year I successfully completed my second Diploma in Cambridge University. I just want to say a big thanks to Mr Hegarty and I couldn't of done it without his video. I still make the same mistakes of not reading the questions properly...lol. Feb 2024.

Would it not be easier to multiply all 3 terms by the LCM(2, 3, 4) which is 12. So 6(2x-1)-4(x-5) = 15. Solving gives 8x + 1 and x = 1/8

I was on 2 c's when i found your videos. I asked to resit both exams but was denied the chance for unknown reasons (they thought i would just fail again) and so i sent them an email and argued with the head teacher saying how it wasn't up to them. I was allowed to resit both exams and brought those 2 C's up to 2 High A's. Now i have unit 3 in a couple days and i am very confident that i can get an A overall. As all i need is a minimum B to get an A overall. This is all because of you. THANKS!!!
