Three local families recently put their dogs to the test, and the results were nothing short of surprising.

I began to worry about if my German Shepherd would be protective of us and the house because he was such a big teddy bear. Then, one late night/early morning when my oldest son appeared at our patio door unannounced, my worries went away. That dog went absolutely berserk, scared the living shit out of everybody, and almost broke the door. As soon as he realized who was at the door, he went right back to teddy bear mode. Best dog I've ever had.

Grew up with a german shepherd. One night, a criminal smashed a window near our front door and tried crawling through. I never heard our dog bark like that before. He was in pure attack mode. Woke all of us up and we instantly knew there was danger. I literally thought he was killing something. Thankfully he scared the burglar (or whatever their intention was) away. I was 13 at the time and my room would have been the first door down the hall. To this day, I honestly believe that dog probably saved my life that night. He slept in front of that window for months afterwards and always spent a portion of the night sleeping there until the day he passed. If you want a family oriented guard dog, that breed is the way to go.

I don't think an actual intruder would be talking so calmly in sweet voice after unexpectedly running into big dogs. This guy knows how to talk to dogs and isn't at all anxious or aggressive.

This reminds me of my late black lab Jake. Was the most placid dog you’ll ever meet until one day when I was about 10 my mum was out shopping and I was home alone with Jake. A man knocked on the door who was buying a guitar off my mum. I knew she was only going to be a few minutes so I said he could wait in the living room. As soon as I let him in Jake went absolutely wild. I had never even seen him bark before and I had to hold him back from going at this guy. Who was now terrified and hiding behind the door 😂 but as soon as mum came back a minute later he started wagging his tail and was just the friendliest dog again. I’ll never forget the way he instinctively protected me, we really don’t deserve dogs 😢

I have 3 dogs and a bird and I think the bird would be the first to attack an intruder than my dogs

I had a pitbull who was trained to protect the house, after being robbed twice we really needed him. Never attacked anyone outside the house property. But when on the house he was defensive of anyone entering the house. Saved us three times from other robberies or worse.

But... These people didn't get protection dogs, they got family dogs and raised them as such. Its a good thing they're not killing people walking through the door.

Try this test, but with the owners inside the house AND freaking out and screaming bloody murder. I love how they all just sat there as the guy walked into their house, as if that’s normal.

My dog and I were sleeping in our car on a camping trip once, a raccoon outside woke us up but then I thought “lemme test this fool” and I started screaming and kicking out the door and throwing punches in the air. It was like wherever I punched his jaws just snapped at the air 😂 and when I reached back and opened his door he sprung out and squared up with his chest out and then looked all surprised cuz no one was there 😂😂😂 and mind you, he LOVES strangers and meeting new people, he likes people more than dogs honestly.

That was also the ONLY time I have ever heard this dog bark. He’s a Dalmatian/AmStaff mix and Dal’s rarely bark, but damn he’s got a good bark ❤️

When I was a little kid my uncle trained his black lab to protect me, even from him. I was too young to remember but my parents always tell me about how he would start acting like he was gonna hurt me and she would go nuts. After he and my grandparents had both passed away the dog came to live with us and she was always by my side. I truly believed she was my angel. ❤️ Dogs are amazing.
On another note I have three dogs, a 60lb pit, 90lb shepherd and a 30lb beagle hound pit mix. The 30lb kiddo would without a doubt get someone out of the house. The other two I'm not so sure 😂

To be fair 1:51 you just waltzed through the front door like you were given permission & they got to smell you when you installed the cameras so you were presumed to be an ally.
