F is without doubt the hardest chord to play so far. Im 3 months in and this one stumps me like no other. Fmaj7 is OK but the bar chord version and muting the muted bottom 2 strings versions are very hard.

If you tune the E string to F : and the A string to Bflat you can Play- A minor D minor Bflat and variations of C major and G minor pretty easily using top 4 strings ( D G B E )..Slap on a capo and play in accending keys as you move up the guitar using the same chord shapes.. Thanks Justin Great lessons.

I was struggling with this on acoustic but not so much on my Electric. I watched this again and noticed how the Pad of Justin’s 1st finger is higher up, pretty much touching the 3rd string . As the 2nd finger frets that 3rd string, one fret up, it doesn’t matters it takes precedence . Suddenly I can play them much more easily and way more relaxed than before.great teacher!

Half the world away by Oasis is great for switching from C to Fmaj7 - an it incorporates a lot of the chords Justin's taught up until now, like A minor.

Thank you thank you thank you for these F chord really slowed down my progress and I've been super discouraged. I've been skipping classes and practice. I found your videos and they're helping so much. My guitar teacher is excellent but it's been great just to get another perspective and I'm finally landing that dang F chord

Thank you, Justin. I'm much older than most and probably have quit playing numerous times because of the flippin F chord. I was determined to learn how to play Hotel California. I hit a couple of F chords that were ok but not happy. I'm like that has got to be some tricks to this bar chord stuff. Yes I am a beginner and have been at it for 5 years. I run across your video. Bravo, well done. It's late but I will be hitting it again in the morning. I can't wait to watch this video again and try some of your suggestions. Awesome instruction.

Thanks heaps for this lesson Justin ! I find the F chord and the G chord quite hard to play cause I got short thin fingers and small hand size ! So this lesson really helps me out ! Thank you so much for your help ! I find Barre chords far too hard and impossible to do ! So These Mini F chords are perfect for people like me to use for my songs ! Cheers mate ! :)

If you’re playing a song with mostly open chords, there’s no need to bar the F. These chords are much easier to go to, and in a lot of cases, sound better. I use them a lot.

I use the "short cut" Variation of F (F maj7) especially when a Song is in the Key of C. This means there are tons of C to F transitions & each are only a little skip away from one another not to mention same Hand Position. With a fast TEmpo and when only playing Chords (vs Fingerpicking), there is little difference in the sound.

The FMaj7/C - I tend to mute the bottom E (with my thumb) and also the top E (with my index finger which is at an angle where it's pressing on the B string and damping the top E) when I use this - The verse of 'Life's been good' by Joe Walsh goes F, Em, Dm, C - and I find that using this form of F is the smoothest transition .
