The 1st time I did an MRI my heart was beating so fast for 5 minutes and then I got used to it so I was calm for the rest of the MRI.

I recently had an MRI and it was horrifying. I thought I’d be okay because it was an open MRI but I still was in a machine that had the roof of it inches from my face. And the sides of the machine were open, but of course we have to stay still, and I felt almost as if it was a coffin even though the sides were open. I had a major panic attack. I waved for the technician to come in. In fact I panicked so bad I literally started screaming and crying and hitting the machine. The technician came in the room. He told me the session was not quite finished, so I needed to go back in. He helped come me down. I had to calm down to do two to three more minutes. He stayed in a room with me, but he was on the side where I could not see him. So I started panicking again and they stopped the machine. They did finish it, but it was, maybe 99% done. It was so horrifying. I never felt so much panic and fear that I can remember in a long time. Lord give Your Peace. 🙏🙏🙏✝️✝️✝️

it's not the claustrophobia, it's merinthophobia the fear of being restrained. If I could just keep my arms free or above my head, i'd be fine

Good point, in theory, but so hard to actually do. I will try though to relax & smile through all the noise & time it'll take for my MRI.
