How to fix a leak under your sink.

You open the sink cupboard door and oww!!! there is water everywhere. Don't panic it`s a straight forward job that in most instances does not require any tools.

Thanks for the tip for using PTFE tape to fix the leak. I moved into a new house recently and the waste pipe in the kitchen had a very slow leak. I really couldn't be bothered with the faff of contacting my landlord or a plumber for such a minor issue, plus I had some PTFE tape anyway in my tool box. Took me all of 10 minutes to fix it. Job well done! :)

Ha ha... it kills me that a plumber wanted to charge me $400.00 US dollars plus to hook my sink back up after I had other work done...I DON'T THINK SO !!! DISGUSTING ! I'm a single woman out of work caring for my elderly uncle w/ Alzheimer's full time, that being after dealing with my mother that passed away & now I am trying to pay her past bills. Thanks for posting this. I followed your instructions and was able to fix the leak myself just by using sealant. Far cheaper than calling plumber.

Thank you! It started leaking under the sink yesteday. I was just back from a day of cycling so I watched this but being tired, I stuck a plastic box underneath to catch any water in case (which I did at times) I forgot not to use the kitchen sink. Woke up fresh this morning and using a bit of duck tape to tighten the connection (also removed the U bend, cleaned it out etc) and problem is fixed, The U bend I guess is not far off 20 years old so I'll "splash out" and get a new one and if / when it leaks next time, I'll just change it.

Thank you so much for taking the time to video this! It saved me a lot of panic. The pipes had completely separated, I'm guessing that the vibration of the garbage disposal loosened the nut over time. I fixed it in no time after a lot of cleaning up.
