I think it's more the case that because he knows that he can heal from basically any injury, he intentionally fights without much regard for self-defense. In stories where his healing factor is compromised or surpressed, he has shown the capacity to act far more cautiously and defensively.

If they go for the kill, he'll be fine, and can go for the kill himself.

Wolverine actually isnt a slouch when it comes to hand to hand. He's US military trained from several eras, and knows several martial arts and weapon training especially from his time in Japan. He hust rarely ever uses them cause he doesn't really have to. He relies on his healing factor a ton and sacrifices his defense with animalistic offense and he can pull it off cause he'll just heal from every injury. BUT there are instances he uses pure skill. A big fight he's done this in was his duel with Silver Sanurai. Silver Samurai's mutant ability allows him to cut through any material, including adamantium. In that fight, Logan could NOT rely on his healing and pure offense since he knew Samurai would demolish him. He had to use martial arts and sword wielding techniques to take him down.

I don’t think that’s the reason. I think he gets hurt far more often because he knows he doesn’t need to bother defending. He knows he’ll always get back up and heal from it in seconds, so there’s no point in protecting himself. That way he can focus all his energy on destroying his opponents.

I think hes a good fighter and uses his healing factor to an advantage just going full force on attack instead of caring about self defence since he will anyway heal quickly, he actually has a bright suit so he grabs attention and purposely gets attacked to protect others(it says so in comics), so yeah he's going to get stabbed and shot alot.Wolverine has has also boxed some big guy and one after being thrown around abit because of the big guys strengh and experience, this was in one of the Wolverine movies

There have been stories where Logan lost his healing and it showed that he’s actually really good at fighting tactically and avoiding damage. He just usually doesn’t care because of his healing.
