When it comes to sleep, there really is only one hack - early to bed, early to rise.

I'm constantly getting asked about when I go to bed - it's 10pm. Still 7-ish hours of sleep :)

When you're so exhausted that you don't hear your alarm anymore... -.-''

For those of you who don't have or don't want a Twitter account - Buffer will let you schedule messages for other social networks as well, including Facebook.

As always, you're highly encouraged to take my system and tweak it to your needs :)

I would delete the tweet and get back to bed. I park my car in a place where I would get a ticket after 7 am. That wakes me up pretty quick.

The problem with that is that if you sleep at 2 am, waking up at 6 am will just make you extremely fatigued and unproductive throughout the day. Waking up early is one thing, but being well rested is another. If you end up waking up early with 4 hours of sleep there's not much point to it. The answer to that is that one obviously needs more sleep, but sleeping earlier is in fact the solution to waking up earlier, and it's not by downloading some app that will take away your money lol. It also ignores the physiological basis for the sleeping requirements for different people. Some may be well rested with 6, while others need as much as 9 to be optimally productive throughout the day. This has been thoroughly researched.

I use an app called "Spin Me" - it forces you to stand up and spin around two times in order to turn the alarm off.

You introducing me to Beeminder saved my degree. I was miles behind with my work, but it was just the tool I needed to get back on track and beat procrastination. Literally changed my life lol.

I wake up everyday at 6 am for the last 3 months without much effort and It's amazing the amount of time you have extra to do other important things.
I just look for the best hour to go sleep that match my sleep cycle, and make sure that I have at least 7 to 8 hours of sleep (seems enough, more than that is bad for the productivity).
Then, what I do is prepare in the night before the things that will take effort to do, simple things like having the clothing and the towel bath ready to use, so I don't have to go to the closet look for it, the light lamp near you so it can be turned on as soon as the alarm goes off, the plate and the breakfast meal in the fridge, etc.
This way you're keeping the things easy to do and makes less effort to get up.
Oh and define goals, they're very important, the ones you want to achieve that day, or the daily hard working goals you want so bad.

Nothing stopping me getting up, turning it off and then going back to bed. I live in a flat, it takes like 5 seconds to go from one end to the other so putting the computer off isn't going to work either. :/

Monetary loss and social shame sound really brutal. I found it much easier to correct my schedule with energy drinks and sleep deprivation. Basically wake up early – get a sip of red bull if you're too groggy, don't sleep in and go to bed earlier. Repeat for 2-3 days and boom, you got a new sleeping schedule.

I have to wake up at 6:00 in the morning everyday. My body forces me to. If I try to sleep in I literally will not get out of bed until like 4:00pm if at all.

What I do is I set a really obnoxious sounding alarm really loudly on my phone and keep my phone near my door (away from my bed) so I have to get up.
If I think I'll sneak back into bed, I put a bucket of water between my door and bed, so that I can wash my face right away and not feel the need to go back to bed

Thomas Frank, how about a method to ensure I go to bed on time? I always stay up way too late and doing so hinders my morning workout the next day

Looks like a good idea, using those two big motivators. But Honestly It sounds like too much work dude. Simple is better in my experience. With a lot of this productivity stuff I found I was using up my will power in the various systems and not on actually doing the things I was trying to achieve. I've had a lot of success with my waking up hacks
Step 1: coffee addiction - reward for getting up
Step 2: set alarm on the opposite side of room
Step 3: Place your clothes on your phone, you're not allowed to turn your phone off until you're dressed
Usually does it for me
