Dan John has spent his life with one foot in the world of lifting and throwing, and the other foot in academia. An All-American discus thrower, Dan has also competed at the highest levels of Olympic lifting, Highland Games and the Weight Pentathlon, an event in which he holds the American record.

Dan spends his work life blending weekly strength training workshops and lectures with full-time writing, and is also an online religious studies instructor for Columbia College of Missouri. As a Fulbright Scholar, he toured the Middle East exploring the foundations of religious education systems. Dan is also a Senior Lecturer for St Mary’s University, Twickenham, London.

His books, on weightlifting, include Intervention, Never Let Go, Mass Made Simple and Easy Strength, written with Pavel Tsatsouline as well as From Dad, To Grad. He and Josh Hillis co-authored “Fat Loss Happens on Monday.”

Dan is one of the original practitioners of the "Kettlebell Swing" in the US and is widely renowned to be the inventor of the "Kettlebell Goblet Squat". He is the host of the weekly Dan John Podcast; discussing all things strength, kettlebells, Olympic weightlifting and athletic performance as well as doing live workshops, coaching and online personal training.

I used to make a Greek salad with tomatoes, cucumbers, red onion, and Kalamata olives. The dressing was an egg, olive oil and lemon juice with or without feta.

Slow cooking for meal prep is great ( thanks for that). I always have protien overnight oats for 2nd breakfast. Savoury bakes are good for meal prep also. As for shopping, getting it delivered was a game changer. I also keep a master shopping list.

Still smh over it but I couldn't lose extra fat for 30 years. Got covid for 1st time at Thanksgiving and lost 16 lbs in 2 weeks. Never lost more than 6 or 7 lbs in a couple weeks in my life. It's been almost three months and all that fat has stayed off. Im eating cleaner by desire and find intermittent fasting it much easier than before. Good timing for Lent.

Hey John, I like to eat beans (black, pinto, chick peas and lentils) daily. Are beans something that I will have to eliminate to lose fat as I change my diet?

Air fryer is a godsend for preparing chicken. Chicken thighs take 23 min at 375. Toss them in seasoning, and press one button. Boom. You’re half way to meal prep.
