Number 1, Love God First
Mark 12:30-31 says, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second most important commandment is this: 'Love your neighbor as you love yourself.' There is no other commandment more important than these two."
When God is placed at the center of a marriage, love for one another deepens. Loving God first aligns hearts with His will, allowing His love to flow through the couple and strengthen their union.
Number 2, Fix the Problem Within the Day
Ephesians 4:26-27 advises, "If you become angry, do not let your anger lead you into sin, and do not stay angry all day. Don't give the Devil a chance."
Addressing conflicts promptly helps prevent bitterness and resentment from taking root. By resolving issues before the day ends, couples protect their marriage from unnecessary harm and maintain peace in their relationship.
Number 3, Your Spouse is Your Best Friend, Satan is the Enemy
Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, "For we are not fighting against human beings but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark age."
In marriage, it's essential to remember that a spouse is not the enemy. Satan seeks to destroy relationships, but by standing united as best friends and partners, couples can overcome his schemes and protect their marriage.
Number 4, Husbands Should Be a Loving Leader
Ephesians 5:25 instructs, "Husbands, love your wives just as Christ loved the church and gave his life for it."
A husband is called to lead with love, just as Christ loves the church. This sacrificial love fosters trust, respect, and a deep bond between husband and wife.
Number 5, Wives Should Submit to the Leadership of Her Husband
Ephesians 5:22 teaches, "Wives, submit yourselves to your husbands as to the Lord."
Submission is an act of love and trust, reflecting a wife's respect for her husband's leadership. When both spouses embrace their roles as outlined in Scripture, harmony and unity flourish in the marriage.
Number 6, Always Be Gentle and Forgive Each Other
Ephesians 4:31-32 encourages, "Get rid of all bitterness, passion, and anger. No more shouting or insults, no more hateful feelings of any sort. Instead, be kind and tender-hearted to one another, and forgive one another, as God has forgiven you through Christ."
Gentleness and forgiveness are essential in a happy marriage. By showing kindness and extending grace to one another, couples reflect the love of Christ and create a peaceful and loving home.
